Who get's it and for HOW much??

In your group of changes that are on the way, please consider this...

I would like to know WHO gets the job and what their submitted budget was.

I think this would provide accountability for all voice talent. If you want to put out a low ball bid, then it SHOULD be known that you're doing that.

It also lets everyone know that SOMEONE is getting the work, there are times that I wonder if the project is real, or a voice talent fishing for prices. I just had this happen to me ON Voice 123.

Wonderful Idea!

I really think the new additions to voice123 are going to help.
But, there will always be someone or some company that will find a way around the rules.
Let's be cautious not to legislate ourselves into a corner.

In the meantime, I really need to know what, if any, recourse we talents have in persuing non-paying clients. I know that their feedback will prevent them from using the service again. But I still want my money!
I don't have the money to hire a collection agency.

Be careful of the companies that will steal your demo! It helps to put a watermark but, sometimes the client will dismiss all demos with watermarks out of hand without even listening! They will listen until they find a newbie talent that has sent a complete 30 or 60 without a watermark and then clean it up and zip...they just got a freebie!

I would also like to see if anyone gets the gig. I don't even need to know how much they got paid....I just want to know the "lead" was filled.
Peace of mind I think.

Then I can say "why the hell didn't I get it?" ahah

I agree with wanting to know who got the job. Just sheer curiousity there but as far as wanting to know what the talent is getting paid for the job, many people may feel that is private information...myself included. Trust me I'm no lowballer by ANY means. I was fortunate enough to have made my premium subscription cost several hundred times over last year thanks to jobs I obtained through the site.

However, if there is a concern that leads are false, the posting of the talent's name who got the job may help prevent this.

Well, something that might be helpful to all the n00bs (and anyone else, for that matter) that don't have one or don't put one on their own custom demos is for Voice123 to provide a watermark to protect its clientele (us).

And by provide, I mean that every custom demo that is submitted be fitted with a watermark. That action in itself encourages those seeking talent not to take advantage of us en masse, and then maybe that will weed out some of the more unsavory folks that still pop up every once in a while.

I mean, I know that it more than likely happened to me in the past, as I'm sure it has happened to many of you.

A good idea? An official Voice123 watermark(tm)?

That's the best idea I've heard so far Big John, and the others too. I totally agree with you that we should have that info. I wonder if charging too much for a job is sometimes what makes me lose a job ??? I've just booked a couple of jobs through voice123 out of approx. 100 auditions, not really what I expected.

Voice 123 had a great idea giving us the rates as a guide, so I encourage everyone to charge what we deserve and not sell our talent for 2 pennies.
I am totally aware that sometimes the client's have limited budgets , soI really don't know how, or if Voice123 keeps track of the postings from the talents, but as a suggestion they could automatically cancell the posts that are not within the rates that voice123 gave us,or somehow make'em resubmit a competitive rate, may be this will help all of us who charge what we deserve, get more jobs, educate talent seekers, and have a healthy and fair competition for the "talent" and not just for the money.

It's just another idea.

I would also like to see which bid won. I mean, with 300 bids on a gig, how many of them after 30, or 40 really get noticed? Does the 100th bid EVER get the gig, or are the customers so saturated by the time they get to number 30 that they don't listen to any more?

Even if this data was complied simply, that would help. It seems that many users sit on the "read and answer leads" page and hit them as fast as possible to be in the first 10. I wonder how many of us who check the page only once or twice a day ever get gigs.

I am trying to get feedback on my demo, but so far, after 200 leads, no bites. Most of my posts were in the scores of bidders before I even saw them. Mad

Good to know that you've found work from Voice123...and repaid your subscription. Just a quick Q: (and I hope it's not too personal)... can you tell me approximately how many gigs you answered and have gotten hired for?
The reason I ask...is I'm relatively new to this site but haven't gotten any work from my submissions. Maybe they suck...I don't know. But I'm just looking for a quick reply from someone that's gotten work.

Michael, I know you posed your question to Alisa, but I'll take a stab:

Voice123 (sorry to say this V123 team) is the world's largest cattle call. I know they're working on ways to mitigate this, but the truth is that you are competing with probably twice (at least) as many people as you would at an open "live" call for the same gig. In fact, I'd say that for 99% of the auditions posted on V123 you are competing with 99% more people than you would for the same gig "offline".

V123 is "easy". Anyone can join. Anyone can give it a shot. This is true in the "bricks & mortar" world as well, but I figure there are probably a large number of people who would not otherwise be bothering if it weren't for the convenience and cushion of V123. After all, they've got some 60,000 "users" (non-premium).

I listened to your demo and you are perfectly well suited to any number of jobs. However, so are many other people, and the client simply may have tossed a coin or stopped listening before they even got to you.

Don't get discouraged. This career is frustratingly difficult offline, so there's no reason to think it will be any easier online. Sure, reach a much wider client-base, but compete with a much, much bigger talent-pool.

With your voice the way it is, I think you should get yourself a local agent (or two or three if you are within a reasonable distance of other markets) and use V123 as a supplement.

Just my 2 cents (which is worth about 1).

Read your post and the answers with interest. To me, that's what this site is all about: getting a handle on this bucking, bewildering beast that is on-line voicing.
I had some success (ie; the unionized average yearly earnings) in off-line voicing and acting. In other words, I'm no Noobie. Yet, it took about half a year to get anything at Voice 123.
Paranoia, of course, set in; I assumed 'important' members were getting first crack before leads were turned over to the rest of us humming masses.
But I upgraded some equipment and listened carefully to other members' demos. I subconsciously worked at listening to network voices.
Of a sudden, a corner was somehow turned, and I've been respectfully engaged for the last couple of months. Still not enough to my liking, of course, but let's not forget that there are - what? - an average of six postings a day. That makes some 13 to 1400 per year. If we're 400 talents, for example, that would still be less than 4 jobs a year even if THE JOBS WERE EVENLY DISTIBUTED.
The math's all wrong, but the fact remains: this is no gold mine; simply another way for us to practice the craft we love...

By the way, I listened in on your demos and think you've got the enthusiastic voice-next-door thing down pat. Methinks, however, that your narrative demo is curiously flat and that you should either remove it or redo it. With all the competition here, it don't take much for a potential client to bail.
