I'm invited back by local actors and you can enroll too and please spread this news around that I'm teaching a voiceover workshop in Denver August 3 Sunday 1-5 p.m. I have been asked to combine two workshop topics into the one workshop afternoon: The Business of Voiceovers Today and Audio Book Narration Techniques. Hope you can join us. This is my second year in Denver by invitation and I'm honored. Contact my Denver assistant Don Randall at don@the radiohelper.com or my Executive Assistant Brian Fine at brian.fine@cox.net to answer questions and provide info you may need. You can enroll on website in online store with MC or VISA or on phone. www.voicesvoices.com 214-638-TALK (8255). Thank you for passing on this info. If you are attending the ATHE conference (assoc Theatre in Higher Education) in Denver July 30-August 2, I'm presenting a voiceover workshop at the conference at 4 p.m. Saturday Aug. 2. You must be an attendee at the conference.

By nature, I tend to be a bit cynical and my suspicious nature always makes me skeptical of those who promise to make me rich overnight or help me to avoid paying the IRS or my credit card company.

That same cynicism and skepticism carries over to those who proclaim themselves to be acting teachers and vo coaches. Not all of them are honest or have the ability to do anything more than take money from innocent victims. Experience has taught me that there are also some very, very good instructors out there that really do know what they are doing and are able to help others achieve whatever level of success they are capable of.

Bettye Zoller is one of them. Bettye has enjoyed success that is most enviable and has reached a level to which many can only dream about - - and she is ready, willing and able to help and encourage others to do so as well! Anyone attending one of Bettye's workshops will be treated to a very worthwhile experience with one of the best in our industry.

For anyone in or near the Denver Metro area, Bettye's workshop will be at the Mamie Doud Eisenhower Public Library in Broomfield.

Broomfield is a Denver suburb, about twelve miles north of downtown. For those having a nifty in car GPS navigation system, it's easy to find. For those not having such high tech gimmicks, it's still easy to find:

From Denver, go North on I-25. Exit 120th Ave and head West (Left) approximately 4 miles to Lamar Street. Turn right (North) on Lamar. At second stop sign, turn Left into the Library parking lot. The Library is the two-story building across from the parking lot, next to the reflecting pond.

Thank you so much Don for your kind words here. Yes, I wanted to be a teacher from early-childhood and always aspired to teach. I started teaching at the Univ. of Missouri when I was but 21 years old! I was working on a Masters at that time. I was so thrilled at last to teach and have taught ever since at many universities, privately, and in seminar settings. It's such a joy. About the Denver workshop, we need to tell you there can be no "walk-ins." You must be enrolled before the workshop date. This is because, obviously , I have to know how many students we have and Don has to know too because of our library setting and room size etc and room set-up. The main reason we don't permit walk-ins is that I prepare very very carefully for my students with extensive handouts and even take-home packets you'll use and really learn from. So that's why you need to get enrolled ASAP. Probably, we will have an enrollment cut off about July 20 or so. We'll keep everyone posted on enrollment. Let's do that here, Don, advise about cut offs and when the class is full. And we only teach SMALL GROUPS...not ballrooms full of people in large hotels like some coaches do! I demand a small group setting always! Personal attention! Also I'm available for a few private hour consultations while in Denver. Those will be scheduled on a couple of days, probably on July 30, 31 or August 1. Once enrolled, we schedule your private hour and those will take place at a downtown Denver hotel.

I have exchanged emails with some really nice people regarding the upcoming Bettye Zoller workshop for the Denver area - it appears that we can expect a mix of fulltime and part time pros along with a sprinkling of newbies and those who are just beginning to look into this business.

Fulltime and part time pros will gain some valuable insights on the actual business end of things - I have not taken this particular course from Bettye in the past, but someone I recently discussed it with tells me it is well worth attending all by itself.

In spite of my business name - The Radio Helper - I have gravitated toward audiobooks over the past year or so. What I have learned after voicing a few audiobooks is that I need to learn a lot more than what I know right now! This part of the day should be challenging and a lot of fun - and I hope it will be something that helps me generate money!

Then of course, there are always the networking and social aspects of an event such as this. I met some wonderful local talents at last years get together - and I am really looking forward to making some new friends this year.

Oh yeah... one of the guys I heard from was asking if Maxine is gonna be there.

Hey Maxine - you are in Boulder, right? That's just over the hill from Broomfield, so... What should I tell him?
