On another thread I mentioned about buying a turntable and finding old albums. Today I found an ASTONISHING 5-LP set for $3.00 at the Salvation Army store, utterly LOADED with classics and in almost brand-new condition. This one particular song (below), I hadn't heard before... at least not this version of it.

Judy Collins and backup chorus doing "Amazing Grace" a cappella. Just spine-tingling.

(downsampled here so the file will fit)

Been recording an IVR system throughout the day and am just winding down. Here's a song that I find absolutely enchanting.

I love this guy -- hard to label, but this humble venue and this song might qualify as sanctuary music, especially with the advice: Don't forget to breathe.

I feel calm whenever I listen to him.

That's great Diane! Reminded me of this guy. One of my really great friends, Abe Quigley, in an even more humble venue Wink singing "Breathe"

WOW -- He's really good, Ember -- and LOVE the venue! Does he record?

One more by Alexi Murdoch. I like this one too. The words are so haunting in all his music -- love the line 'in your love, my salvation lies."

Just a few additions I've been listening to a lot of this week. Smile This is Loreena McKennitt who just rocks. It's a fusion of world, Celtic, and Arab music; just lovely. Lyrics below for those who want to know...

When in the springtime of the year
When the trees are crowned with leaves
When the ash and oak, and the birch and yew
Are dressed in ribbons fair

When owls call the breathless moon
In the blue veil of the night
The shadows of the trees appear
Amidst the lantern light

We've been rambling all the night
And some time of this day
Now returning back again
we bring a garland gay

Who will go down to those shady groves
And summon the shadows there
And tie a ribbon on those sheltering arms
In the springtime of the year

The songs of birds seem to fill the wood
That when the fiddler plays
All their voices can be heard
Long past their woodland days

We've been rambling all the night
And some time of this day
Now returning back again
we bring a garland gay

And so they joined their hands and danced
Round in circles and in rows
And so the journey of the night descends
When all the shades are gone

"A garland gay we bring you here
And at your door we stand
It is a sprout well budded out
The work of Our Lord's hand"

We've been rambling all the night
And some time of this day
Now returning back again
we bring a garland gay

And this is one from Kate Nash. I've recently found British ladies who play piano simply irresistible! Lyrics follow...

Watching me like you never watch no one
Don't tell me that you didn't try and check out my bum
Cause I know that you did
Cause your friend told me that you liked it

Gave me those pearls and I thought they were ugly
Don't you try to tell me that you never loved me
I know that you did
Cause you said it and you wrote it down

Dancing at discos
Eating cheese on toast
Yeah you make me merry make me very very happy
But you obviously, you didn't want to stick around

Dancing at discos
Eating cheese on toast
Yeah you make me merry make me very very happy
But you obviously, you didn't want to stick around

So I learnt from you

Do do do da do do do do do da do do do do do da
Do do do da do do do do do da do do do do do da

I can be alone, yeah
I can watch a sunset on my own
I can be alone, yeah
I can watch a sunset on my own
I can be alone
I can watch a sunset on my own

I can be alone, yeah
I can watch a sunset on my own
I can be alone, yeah
I can watch a sunset on my own
I can be alone
I can watch a sunset on my own

Sitting in restaurants
Thought we were so grown up
But I know now that we were not the people,
that we turned out to be

Chatting on the phone can't take back those hours
But I won't regret it
cause you can grow flowers,
from where dirt used to be

Dancing at discos
Eating cheese on toast
Yeah you make me merry make me very very happy
But you obviously, you didn't want to stick around

Dancing at discos
Eating cheese on toast
Yeah you make me merry make me very very happy
But you obviously, you didn't want to stick around

So I learnt from you

Do do do da do do do do do da do do do do do da
Do do do da do do do do do da do do do do do da

And one from Ingrid Michaelson, who I just adore in her geeky glasses! Smile Lyrics:

Have you ever thought about
What protects our hearts?
Just a cage of rib bones
And some other various parts

So it's fairly simple
To cut right through the mess
And to stop the muscle
That makes us confess

And we are so fragile
And our cracking bones make noise
And we are just breakable, breakable, breakable
Girls and boys

And you fasten my seatbelt
Because it is the law
In your two-ton death trap
I finally saw
A piece of love in your face
That bathed me in regret
Then you drove me to places
I'll never forget

And we are so fragile
And our cracking bones make noise
And we are just breakable, breakable, breakable
Girls and boys

And we are so fragile
And our cracking bones make noise
And we are just breakable, breakable, breakable girls
Breakable, breakable, breakable girls
Breakable, breakable, breakable
Girls and boys

I heard this song on Pop Radio back in the 90's. I was coming home from a bad day on a Movie set. The movie was Idle Hands. I played a school kid in a halloween costume. The day had been stressful and I was in tears as I drove down the highway making my two hour commute back to the airforce base. I prayed for God to give me guidance in my life and asked him to play a song on the radio that I could relate to. I was not on a religious radio station but this song was an answer to my prayer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fIMzFgbYOY

The wind is moving
But I am standing still
A life of pages
Waiting to be filled
A heart thats hopeful
A head thats full of dreams
But this becoming
Is harder than it seems
Feels like im
Chorus:
Looking for a reason
Roaming through the night to find
My place in this world
My place in this world
Not a lot to lean on
I need your light to help me find
My place in this world
My place in this world

If there are millions
Down on their knees
Among the many
Can you still hear me
Hear me asking
Where do I belong
Is there a vision
That I can call my own
Show me im

Chorus

September maybe this is your song.....It's not like me to post this.....I feel that some thing is typing this through my hands to your heart. I just found this song 5 minutes ago. Something told me to look for something that might speak to you.
