Could someone offer some suggestions, since I'm stumped... When I'm recording into Audition, the wave won't record outside -6db. It clips the rest of the wave. I've scoured the program to find a way to change this.

Right now, the only option I have is to record at a lower volume, and normalize to -1 after the recording. Any other suggestions?

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer! I've got 5 projects in my box this weekend, and my new equipment has me stumped!

Have a super weekend, and thanks again!

Hi Kim,
I don't know what could be causing this, but you probably shouldn't worry about it anyway. A lot of pros suggest that you record at a lower volume, even lower than -6, and bring it up in the software. If I remember correctly you should record somewhere between -9 and -12, but not exactly sure about that. There are some threads concerning this on this board.
Good Luck!!!
John

Is it AA 2.0? 2.0 had a bug that sometimes caused this.

I've had this problem before, too. Mine does it if I go directly from my preamp to the soundcard. However, If I go through my mixer, it doesn't do it. I still use AA 1.0

It clips audio at -6, so avoid clipping it at all, then raise the level.

Also, try it in stereo and see if it still clips.

Good luck

My M-Audio Fast Track Pro clips at -5 because it's digital. Try to record at -15 and just normalize to -6 or -3. That's how I do it. Smile

Thank you everyone! Glad to know I'm on the right track!

Yes, it's Adobe Audition 2.0.

I've spent HOURS on the phone with Digidesign trying to solve this, and I knew there would be a hero or three here to save the day.

Merci, Beaucoup!
