Now, that's a change that actually tells you something! Nice!! You're number ONE, Scott! But this time, it's all good.

Hey, no long e-mail about this???

Semantics - a simple change to the language used can make a big emotional difference.

2 - Not Likely
3 - Maybe
4 - Considering
5 - Likely Hiring

Now - how is the following information determined? Is is simply in the order that they were heard? Or are they sorted? I've never used the system as a producer - although I guess I am signed up because I just got an email about some changes on that side.

Quote:
Based on Voice Seeker's feedback you were ranked 10th out of 23 auditions that received feedback.

Speaking of semantics, I had to chuckle over this one this morning:

"zeroth" Laughing

I'm not bothered by it because they haven't provided feedback on ANY of the submissions, thus the "0th". Still... it's funny.

My only remaining question would be -- how many of each number was awarded? Can they still consider you "FIRST" choice if there are , say, three other first choices? That, we still don't know. After all, there were nine ZEROths.

It makes me feel pretty. Well. Less ugly, anyway. So of course I like it. Thing is, our suitors...um, I mean seekers...are working alll the bars.

But a change of semantics is a smartcast way to sell subscription renewals. I have to give'em credit.

Even where I wasn't rated very high on the list... say, 19th out of 26 auditions and "not likely", I'm olkay with that. At least we're GETTING feedback (unlike voices-dot-com) and it's somewhat useful.

Again... this is a change for the better, IMO.

This update to the rating and feedback system is new this morning! USEFUL INFORMATION. Interpretation of the 1,2,3,4,5 is marginally helpful, but knowing where you ranked among the auditions that were rated is extremely helpful. Whoever thought this one up at V123 deserves recognition and a big thank you from the VO talents! daumen rauf

Wait, Scott -- how is that possible? How many numbers are they using? How can a 1 to 5 rating system give you a rank of 19??

Sure it makes sense. He was the 4th person to get the number 1 spot by getting a 5 on the 2nd pass after the 3rd audition.

My question, too, Diane.

Makes no sense to me. But, I'm willing to learn. Confused

Of course, Melba, that's a simple binomial distribution -- or would that be differential calculus? Always confuse those two...

Everybody, take another look at your submissions. The number system is gone, replaced by "Likely Hiring, Strongly Considering, etc" with your ranking among those rated..... Another good move!

Diane, here's how I interpret it:

The seeker gets, say, 26 auditions submitted.

They rank them.

Somewhere there's a guy/girl who is their top choice. They give him a ranking of #1.

Somewhere in the mix is a poor shlep who is their rock-bottom last choice. He/she is ranked #26.

Somewhere in the middle was me. Nowhere close to their top pick, but thankfully not so awful that they put me on the bottom. When all was said and done I would have been their pick had the previous 18 above me all said "Thanks, but no thanks."
