New Book: Voice for Hire

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to tell you guys about a new book that's coming out in October. It's by Randy Thomas and Peter Rofe' and it's called "Voice for Hire: Launch and Maintain a Lucrative Career in Voice-Overs."

Being that I've already read the book many times (I had the honor of helping to copyedit it), I can tell you, it's good. Full of really great advice, with really wonderful and useful stories from not only Randy and Peter, but other prominent voice talent.

Randy and Peter will both be at VOICE 2008 in August. Randy is presenting, and I believe Peter will be on a panel. They'll also have a booth there so they have a chance to meet and talk with everyone there.

I'm a big fan of Randy Thomas. I'm looking forward to meeting her and Peter at VOICE 2008.

BTW, how did you get into editing? English major??

Hi Lori,

Yup, I was an English major. Before my vo career, I worked on Wall Street for a number of years in marketing departments, writing boring and dry.... garbage, basically. And editing/proofreading. Among other things.

Randy and Peter are both awesome people. You'll love Randy... she's absolutely wonderful, and has been the greatest mentor to me.

And, I can't wait to meet you too!!!

I know Randy is based in Florida....Are you in Georgia Caryn? I plan on taking a weekend get away this fall. I've always wanted to go to this Island off the coast of Georgia. Would you be interested in hanging out at the beach with me for a couple of days? strichauge

I'm in SW Florida where Randy is. I live right in between Sanibel and Fort Myers Beach. If you're ever down this way, I'd gladly hit the beach with you!

By the way, for anyone who's interested, we're doing a HUGE book kickoff party on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Gulf Coast Town Center here in Fort Myers. We have secured a number of great sponsors and there will be sushi, giveaways such as jewelry and a Vespa scooter, and a really great band (TJ Kelly). And, of course, Randy will be there and will be signing books.
