I just got my confirmation e-mail from the good folks of Universitytv and I have been selected as Omega. Apparently there were quite a few auditions.
Holy crap, just checked and there were 102 submissions.
"This voice is for an animated character named Omega. He is modeled after the Greek letter. you can see a movie of him at (link in script notes). It will take a few seconds to download and you will need a QuickTime player to view it. Omega will be the "mascot" of a virtual campus and provide a :30 tutorial on the exciting features of this new virtual space. We are looking for a unique "cartoon-style' voice for him. Take a look at him and imagine how you think he should sound. There is a rough script for you to submit your Omega voice. He should be fun and energetic. Omega will become a prominent animation. "
Here is the character http://www.youniversity.tv/Omega.mov

Great job, ya shredder. Sounds real good...
Did you submit that many takes on the custom demo for the client? I've been wanting to do more and wondering if it's cool to do so. It clearly works for you!
I reckon' that issue has probably been discussed heaps on this board....amiright?

It hasn't been discussed much - but the key to sending multiple reads is to be sure that there is a significant difference between them. If the reads are too close, then the client may end up (consciously or unconsciously) thinking you can't be directed.
(Oh and congrats Simon)

Hey Matty - Yeah I just went nuts on this one because I knew I could get it but I also wanted to make sure I covered a few other possibilities. As it turns out, the first take was their pick. I think I did overkill it on the takes.. but oh well! Are you auditioning yet or what dude?
I originally got a rating of 4 out of 5. A couple days ago it was bumped up to 5 out of 5. I was wondering if it would be one of those times where you get a good rating but nobody calls....
So stoked!!! Did Power Puff Girls Z this morning. I've got a session at the Knowledge Network to do promos tomorrow morning and then another session for Omega around lunch. 3 gigs in 2 days is a career first.

Mega congrats Simon!
I sent in one myself and tried something pretty crazy, probably too over-the-top. I got a 3 and probably was fortunate just for that.
Your read was spot on! I thought you nailed it with the first one as well.

Way ta go, bro! Your usual good stuff.
I listened to this and thought "Gee, I wonder what Simon will sound like when he's 80??" Probably still sound like you're 16.
