LinkedIn - Could Use Some Graphics Help

A while back we had a discussion about a LinkedIn group for voice over professionals (a/k/a us).
Since there does not appear to be one in place, I decided to create it, but before I did, I wanted to come up with a logo.

This is my crude attempt:

It doesn't look totally horrible, but LinkedIn wants a 100x50 version

and a 60x30 version

and they do look awful. So if there's anybody with stronger graphics skills than mine (that should be easy) who would like to come up with a cleaner looking logo -- either using my concept,such as it is, or coming up with something completely different -- please jump in.
As soon as we have one, we can launch the group.

The logo is fine -- it would be good to link at Linked in.

Can we do a SaVoa group? I thought that was an intital discussion as well.

A SaVoa group could be cool...but, I like Lee's initiative first-
LinkedIn is all about networking and SaVoa members are a pretty small group who are "hooked up" already-

...while there are many, many VO pros who have not, for one reason or another, joined SaVoa-

The VO group could be open to all professionals and "link" us up to that many more of our colleagues-

Lee, great idea. Horrible logo. The design is fine but it needs to be cleaned up. Perhaps Scott will come to your rescue.

I cant speak for the entire board or membership of SaVoa but I would guess it may be something we could work with you on if you wish.

How about starting a SaVoa group on the voiceoveruniverse site? Lots of voiceover people hanging out there suddenly - more than 800 now.

OK, I have modified the logo slightly in order to make the "VO" show up more legibly in the thumbnails. Here's the revised logo:

Here's the large thumbnail:

And here's the small thumbnail:

After looking at several of the other LinkedIn logos, I think these are not appreciably less readable than those. For example, here's the large thumbnail for the Radio & Television Professionals Network:

As you can see, only the initials and a faint hint of the microphone are readable.

Here's the International Lawyers Association of Finland:

And here's the Cal Tech Alumni:

As you can see, some logos are cleaner than the V.O.P. logo and others aren't. So I've decided it's not worth delaying setting up the group while waiting for the logo to be perfect. Therefore, I'm going to just plunge ahead and get it going. I assume we can always change the logo if we come up with a better one.

UPDATE: The deed is done. I have submitted a request to LinkedIn to start the group "voice over Professionals." The customer service department will inform me within 1-2 business days whether the group has been accepted or rejected. As soon as I know, I will post the news.

Can we hold off on the logo a bit. I would like a stab at it. I think we need something that looks a little more professional...since we are a group of professionals. I will be in the office tomorrow and will have access to photoshop. Another person we should be asking is Nikki Saco.

I'm pretty sure we can change the logo and are not married to the one we use to initiate the process, so by all means knock yourself out and see what you can come up with. I just decided it wasn't worth holding off the entire process while we wait for my design to be improved upon.
I agree Nikki could certainly come up with something superior, but I haven't seen her around here lately.

NEWS FLASH: The voice over Professionals Group is now open for business.

FYI, I can change the logo so if any of you have decided to make improvements, please continue working on them.
