Hello my techno-computer wizard-engineering boyfriends ~

Ok, I just received a great email from James and Penny today about the “Tech Talk Terrace” at Voice2008, and may I say what a fabulous idea from these two masters! I am SOOO looking forward to attending this conference!!

“Tech Talk Terrace” is a place at Voice2008 to share learning and teaching about the techy side of voice-overs. If you guys did not receive the email announcing this, let me know and I can forward it to you.

So, my question is: are any of my Savvy friends, and specifically my techno-engineering-wizard friends, going to be at Voice2008 and would you consider spending a little time at the Tech Talk Terrace with me?

I’ve learned a lot about editing my sound files and I do jobs regularly from my home studio, but I really would like to know more about:

• Equalizing
• Adding music and SFX to jobs
• Taking my production to the next level

I should preface my request by saying that I’m somewhat rather low-tech, by nature, so you’d need to be patient! But I have GOT to learn more about equalizing and it's been very challenging just doing it on my own in my studio without any help from someone who knows what he's doing.

I would love to learn more about these things from someone who really knows their stuff, and I was hoping that maybe some, or a few, of my Savvy friends might be attending the conference and could spare some time to help me. I’m not sure how I could return the favor but perhaps I could at least take you to lunch or dinner!

Jacob E.? Greg H.? David O.? Colin C.? Erik S.? Don C.? Allen B.? Lance B.?

Thanking you in advance for any engineering help you guys might be able to provide.

Xoxo
Maxine

I'll be there, though bouncing between Voice 2008 and time at a few studios (both for work and to sit in as a fly on a wall for a few places), not to mention a minor shopping spree I have planned. Don't know how much free time I'll actually have (basically, if you find me, no problema... just don't be surprised if I'm running around a lot).

That said, there is at least one person I know of who is dedicating quite a bit of time there (also giving a presentation on technology for the home VO crowd) who will be more than able to help you out.

Dear Mr. Mont Blanc ~ aka Greg,

Great! I'll PM you my cell phone number so hopefully we can meet. Let's go shopping!

Woops, wasn't quite done....

And I know there'll be a presentation on the home studio thing.... but what I need is someone sitting beside me at my computer, showing and telling me about equalizing, etc. I don't need that class room experience again, I need hands-on-guidance....

Saying things like, "Ok, see...if you do this....then this happens. But if you do this, then this, then you get a whole different effect."

I want more micro-management than a group class. I want a private consultation.

xoxo

Depending on what SW you're using (you're still using PT, right?) that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

PS: spent more time at Hardy and Tiffanys than at Mont Blanc, but they have a pair of cufflinks and a pen I am quite interested in seeing again Wink

Maxine:
I'll be spending time floating between my booth and the Tech Terrace at VOICE 2008, as well as teaching the Tech of VO workshop.
See you there!

George and Greg ~ Thank you soooo much! Let's touch base closer to the conference and I'm sure we'll find each other there. My email is maxine@maxinedunn.com.

I really appreciate your help ~ Also Greg, I'm not using PT, I have Sound Forge 9.0.

Thanks again ~

Maxine

NP, my mistake, lol!

George was precisely the person I was thinking of (I couldn't remember your first name... just used to your user name on the vo-bb).
