Hi there my techno friends ~

Regarding ISDN….

If I have ISDN put in my studio in the house I’m in right now, and then move in a year or two, can I “take it with me?” Or do I have to have a whole new ISDN system put in my new house and pay $5000.00 all over again?

Even though I work regularly in other studios that have ISDN, I don’t know what’s actually involved in “installing” it, so I'm sorry if this is a low-tech question.

Thanks!

xoxo

Other than having a new line installed at your new house there's no issue in unplugging your ISDN and taking it, and the rest of your stuff, to your new house.

Hi Greg,

Thanks so much! Is it the ISDN thingy itself that costs so much? Or is it the installation of the line? Do you have any idea how much it costs to have the line installed?

LOVE how you and some of other guys here know the answer to every single techy question...It's like having my own private technology consulting team...

Max

No worries Maxine... I just invoice people for my services every 6 months or so.

Very Happy

The "ISDN thingy" is the codec. That's the pricey part. Your line is the cheap part (so long as you don't leave it on). Should cost $200 or less to get that installed in a new location (pricing dependant on company used and service area).

Max, I actually didn't even have to pay installation fees for my ISDN, b/c I did some sort of two year obligation with Embarq. It's costs $61.13/month for two lines. But like Greg said, it would've cost me a couple hundred bucks... no big deal.

My codec (Telos Zephyr XStream) was $2600 on eBay - like new and I've never had any issues. I will forewarn you though to be careful buying a codec on eBay and really do your research. There were several on there when I bought mine that were fraudulent posts.
