So a really cool thing happened this morning. I got a completely random e-mail from www.voopenhouse.ca

Hi Simon,
I got your contact information from Jenya. We create videos for residential real estate properties in and around the Vancouver area. Our regular voiceover person is currently unavailable and we need a few voiceovers done, and were wondering if you would be available to do these. Please let me know your availability!
Thank you!

Jenya was part of the student crew that produced the film I was in back in January. Now she works for this company! Their regular DEEP voice guy up and moved to England. Jenya was thoughtful enough to have remembered that I have my own studio and recommended me! How cool is that!!! Anyways, I'm a little unsure as to whether or not I'll be kept on as their VO guy just because I know I'm bringing a totally different sound to real estate, but I've got my fingers crossed and posted the first audio track for you guys to give me some much needed feedback on. I want to keep this job! It pays preeeeetty darn good.

http://www.vopenhouse.ca/video/1669_cloverdale/ <-- This is a video featuring their usual VO guy. Chris Shields is in the beginning of it.

So whaddaya real estate pros think???

HEY!!! HEY!!! Simon, man, if you young people start doing real estate, what's left for the rest of us old fogeys? So, stop that!
Wink

Sounds fresh, cool and new -- and if it sells condos, they'd be foolish not to keep you.

Congrats!

Congrats, Simon! Don't you just LOVE how sometimes the most unexpected associations bring business your way? That's what it's all about.

I've done a number of real estate v/o's and yours is so different that what I'm used to, but I LIKE it! It's fresh and youthful and very, very unique, which makes it stand out.

I do NOT want to, or mean to, threadjack, but here are a couple of real estate v/o's I've done in the past that I like a lot, but notice how 180-degrees different they are from your approach (and again... different is GOOD!)

Diane, Scott, John!!!

I'm breathing a HUGE sigh of relief. That means a lot to have your approval as I really thought this kind of work was not my thing. Wasn't so sure the different sound would sit well. So THANK YOU!

So far I haven't had any complaints from the client which is great so we'll see how it all pans out.

Scott - Yeah the 180 approach I figured would either make listeners vomit, or it could work well. So far so good. Your thread posts are always welcomed dude, gives people a chance to really hear the difference.

Diane - I honestly think they don't really need my voice on this video hahaha The Vancouver market I believe is still pretty hot. All a realtor needs to ask a customer is "how many houses do you want?" haha That's what I "get" considering housing prices are SOOOOO HIGH even though people still buy them. Don't go telling them that I said that though!! haha

UPDATE:

looks like they've pulled the video that had my voice in it and re-did it with someone else with the classic deeper voice. son-of-a...

they'd better pay up!!!
