I have sound effects and music beds but I'm searching for just the right on for a fake commercial that will be part of a audio book....it's for audition purposes.

Well I got a 5 star rating from the voice seeker without any background music.

Does anyone know the title of a music bed that is really cheezy....(fake commercial) and one that is really trying to sell the product?

Be careful about trading music and sound effects. Most are copyrighted. Many composers troll these sites. They do pursue violators. They do collect money.

Pay for your tools. You'll sleep better.

Have you explored the free music sites in the regard that they have a "guide to usage" long and detailed message? I scrolled down a couple of these very long diatribes. Wow. There are lots of rules on using this music. I would need to read in great depth a site's mandates about usage (the so-called 'free' music sites) before taking a chance on using it on a job. I didn't have the time to explore in full. Just be aware that nothing in life is "free." If you are using this music on jobs involving money changing hands, watch out. Someone wrote this music and should get paid for it. The internet is being carefully watched these days by the "music police." This is very real...they can find you and prove you downloaded. I have libraries of music and SFX that I pay for and use. Currently, when I need something "exotic" or "special" such as Indian or other world musics, I go to the Music Bakery where you can buy one track or a collection.

there are several places on ebay selling nice compilations cd's and dvd's with buyout music. I got the equivalent of 100 cd's with a lot of good stuff for under $45.

good luck

When I see someone's CD and it's NOT from a major label, a music house, and it claims to be "copyright free," I cringe. If it truly is NOT copyright free, you'll be the person who used it on a commercial project. Remember: The keywords are: "hen money changes hands." Example: A client in my recording studio wanted me to assemble background music for her meditation CD. She leads these sessions for clients. She wanted to sell the CD. I looked for a long time finding just the right music she would approve that was, indeed, copyright free. I finally found it from a CD music house on the web and ordered it. She, of course, paid for the music I had to order for her. This was a label you could trust and it was, indeed, copyright free. In my search, I rejected many people who claimed I could "use the music" because they could not prove to me it was indeed copyright free. About hunting for music...that's a good question...yes it takes time to search for the right tracks to use on a project. This is called "studio time." Clock it and put it in your invoice to the client. Sometimes the searches take long time! No one should work free!

Well I have no problem using ANY music for audition or demo purposes.....As a matter of fact Martina McBride is on my Rufus the Swamp Hog audition...I put it there to make my audition stand out not to steal anything from Martina......I know I've had this conversation before and it's rather surprising to me that I've been posting for so long and you people still don't seem to know me.

As for the sound effects.....many have been created by moi.....and I'm sorry George Lucas but my "running up the stairs is better than your running up the stairs" (I do have store bought ones as well)

And I can give my home made sound effects to whoever I please.

Excellent and very affordable. I've built up a very nice library of mux and sfx from them over time.

I had never visited the Digital Juice website until reading about it here in this thread. Coincuidentally, today I went to the mailbox and found a glossy brochure from -- wait for it -- Digital Juice. I wish I had paid closer attention to the thread while they were still having their Backtraxx deal.

Well you just keep running up those stairs gal and that's fine. Those are SFX, sound effects. When you start using other people's music, you're jail material my friend. And Martina...hope you're reading this. Good luck stealing music. You are wrong and any lawyer would tell you so. All professionals know you need to know what your backgrounds are when you use them. That tells us you are a newcomer unexperienced amateur my gal. All the best and watch out for the music police.

As a musician whose stuff is for sale on cdbaby.com and iTunes I have a huge problem with anyone using any copyrighted music for anything without getting clearance, Deby. There is no gray area here. It's wrong, it's illegal, and if you get caught you will be fined a very large amount of money. Plus it's a reflection on one's character, IMO, if they're willing to blatantly and flagrantly violate copyright laws to achieve their own ends. Deby, the laws and this professional community are pretty staunchly against your approach and as a friend and a pro I'd sure suggest you re-think your position here. With cleared music being SO affordable nowdays there really IS no excuse to steal music. And that's what it is: stealing music. Otherwise why would there be fines and laws against it? That's why Napster was taken to court and had to change its method of operation.

Posting your willful disregard of copyright laws on a public forum such as this only enhances your chances of getting caught, too.

Now, just to show you I'm not ALL vinegar, here's your piece with one of MY ORIGINAL scores under it and I give you FULL PERMISSION to use it in your demo.

Wink

Yes, using others' work is called "theft." Musicians and composers should be paid for their work. Using music you've not paid for is stealing. . Do you know that ASCAP and BMI, the music licensing agencies in U.S. (I am longtime ASCAP member and writer) watch the industry closely with many many employees whose job it is to police music theft? They watch internet messages too! I am told websites are watched and commercial backgrounds are checked regularly and all sorts of music usages are being watched now. This was brought to light in Washington in the hearings I believe in 2007 or 2008 and widespread use of pirated music and movies has now been carefully monitored since then. FBI steps in when piracy or theft is found. Be careful!

THE ONLY THING I'VE STOLEN IS A DANDELION FROM MY NEIGHBOR'S YARD!!!!!!!!

I PAID FOR MY MARTINA MCBRIDE CD AND I TOLD THE CLIENT THAT IF THEY WANTED TO USE THAT PARTICULAR PIECE OF MUSIC THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO PAY ROYALTY FEES FOR IT.....

I THINK MARTINA HAS BETTER THINGS TO DO THAN SUE little ol ME FOR THE FEW SECOND'S THAT HER MUSIC IS BEING PLAYED ON MY DEMO....... ESPECIALLY SINCE MOST OF HER HITS ARE ON YOU TUBE ANYWAY!!!!! Rolling Eyes

EDGE STUDIOS PUT A MUSIC BED ON MY COVERGIRL PROMO SPOT THAT IS ON MY NARRATIVE DEMO.....THEY PAID FOR THE MUSIC AND THEN GAVE IT TO ME.....HOW COULD ANY STUDIO SELL DEMOS IF THEY WERE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THIS???
