Superb character demo, Lance. Loved the variety and flow. Nice work on the posh British and Scottish accents, too (even if, as an ultra-picky accent geek, I could hear just a hint of americana in there.).
Well done, sir!

Lance...your acting is good in most of it....but I can tell it's homemade
...number 1 there is always music....but not sound effects. Cartoons have tons of sound effects. This is personally something my character demo needs more of as well.
2. It sounds like the compression and microphone are too much the same on every spot....letting me know they are not real.
3 Certain characters sound like bad imitations of the original.....Sorry but why try to top Mike Myers at the top of his game when there are other characters out there that can easily be done better than the original.
You are on to something and it does show range so just keep polishing that rough diamond....I love the reporter character and the Clint Eastwood character too. Those sound perfect to me.
Here is some really wacky compression that they put on my read for a video game.....I would never have thought of it.....that's why it sounds so real

Lance you are so good you just wig me out!!!!!
I'm getting vicarious thrills listening to this demo....you are SOOO GOOOD! The only thing I think of when listening to this is HUGE versatility and range. I don't care about sound effects. You can tell you have an enormous bag of tricks to dig into, and that's what counts.
I can't wait to see where this takes you. And the Scottish one is the one that actually made me melt....I think that one needs to be just a little longer. Maybe it's because I just watched P.S. I Love You and I now have a THING for Irish/Scottish accents, but I loved your Scottish. Very, very, good. (And I went to boarding school in Scotland so I know Scottish.)
Love it. Bravo sweetie pie.
xoxo
Max

Thanks Deby for the input and support. I appreciate it.
There's SFX on 4 of the 9 pieces, but I certainly should throw in a bit more. As for the compression and effects, I used different plugs and hardware for each bit, but I tried to err on the side of it not being a distraction - I'll revist that. Many of the samples are with the same mic, but there are three different ones used, a dynamic a condenser, and a shot shotgun. I wasn't trying to sound like Mike Myers at all but I was trying to be a vulnerable and twee and not a stereotypically brash Scot. Some people like the Scot, some people like the Reporter, so it just goes to show diff'rent strokes! I'll keep working at it, I've got a long way to go but I know it will be worth it. Having always been a dry corporate guy it's good to push things.
Ta, Maxine...where did you go to school? I went to the University of St. Andrews.

Well Lance,
It sounds like you did a lot to make them sound different......Somehow I know that the same PERSON did the engineering. Why not trade engineering with a great engineer who has the same problem on their demo? That way you could help them and they could help you.
