Hi

I'm in the process of building a sound room in my basement, I'm have a plan for the walls etc, with the requirements for constructing it, ( I used to be a contractor)

My question is, I have some left over (from a previous remodel, wrong size for the job) replacement windows. (Opps happen all the time. Always blame it on the architect, or the factory, whoever isn't there...it's their fault!)

If I frame out an opening for these sashes, the actual glass window part that goes up and down ( a double hung window ) I would have 4 sheets of glass in this opening, with spaces between each. (I'd throw the frame, springs etc away) They are Low E glass insulated double glazed, and filled with Argon Gas for additional insulating value. These are great window for the Northeast winters, pretty quiet by window standards, but they'd be doubled up, and in a basement with brick and stone foundation all around.

I don't expect a lot of sound coming in, it's the sound coming out that I'd like to minimize or eliminate.

Anyone have an opinion or a guess as to how sound proof this type of configuration could be?

Thanks

Ed
