By the way, nice deep, dark and rich coffee voices, guys -- and your caramel latte wasn't bad, either, Colin. But the song goes "Chock full o'nuts is the heavenly coffee, Better coffee a milllionaire's money can't buy."

Very cool, Jacob -- good one for your voice. Lavazza has great coffee -- and I'm definitely an espresso girl.

YOU ARE CORRECT. Ah... the aging process... my mind is slipping.

OK... I didn't get the WWII lead. Can someone post the copy? It's "up my alley" as they say.

Hi Colin,
Here it is...

Dark times called for the Allied invasion of France. The largest amphibious operation in the history of modern warfare.

Captain Westing and the SIF land in a hailstorm of fire, instantly taking casualties.

Stripped of jurisdiction and thrown into the fray, Captain Westing's men flounder on the beachhead, the grinder of the Normandy coast indifferent to their elite tactician. It was a bloodbath.

Westing calls for air support. He receives no reply.

Westing calls for heavy armor. He is answered only by static.

As the wheels of bureaucracy churn, Captain Westing watches his men dissapear beneath the cold surf of the Northern Atlantic.

Quickly assessing the situation, Westing takes charge, scanning the Axis fortifications.

Amidst the metal storm, the panic, the thunder of the 88's, Westing spots a fatal flaw in the unbreakable German front. He rallies his troops, leading them up the beach as Axis reinforcements dig in to defend the shelf.

With thousands of British troops inbound, the lives of their allies and the success of the invasion depends on clearing Normandy's deadly shores.

I'm pretty certain, Steve, that the posting was for an English (as in UK, crumpet-dipping) voice. Not only does the text suggest it, but the voice description was English only, as opposed to English (North American).
If so, your read wins by a furlong or two. Or three.

Thanks Robert, but those descriptions can be a bit ambiguous.
Most of the leads I get through TOS specify English, not English (North American), yet the script is obviously calling for North American or some other accent.
I have a feeling that some clients select English because they don't want French or Swahili or some other language, and maybe don't even think about the accent.
I often throw a demo their way anyhow.....you never know your luck!
Smile
Cheers!
Steve

Yes, Steve, that's true at Voices -- but in this particular case, the copy is leaning Brit. I'd give this one to you as well.

Thanks, David -- I wish I could remember what I have to do today without looking at my appointment calendar, but I sure do have a bunch of old jingles knocking around in my head for some reason. Maybe if I knock a few out, I'll have room for more important stuff in there.

I didn't get the impression that the WWII read necessarily called for a British voice. That may, in fact, be the case but since they didn't specify "British" I gave them what the copy suggested to me, which was a documentary ("Victory at Sea") style narration. I added the music for the purposes of posting here, but did not include it in the demo I submitted (maybe I should have).

I just finished this audition for a Memorial Day church service. I submitted the Custom audition with basic VO and the Generic audition has this one with production.
