This western gig might have gone belly-up without being closed. Or, maybe the producer threw it out there as the last thing before going on vacation. Confused

Hey, Thom:
Feel free to "enhance" mine above.
It will make the project worth while, since they haven't listened to any of 'em.
My dry read cannot compete with your enhanced versions.

This was a lead that said, "have fun with it", so I had fun with it. It's for a small radio market, so most likely a one shot deal. Just having fun with enthusiasm. Opened, no rating. Doesn't mean a thing to the seeker, but for me, it was fun trying.

Allison:

I saw the same lead and decided not to audition, couldn't find a good delivery. Yours fits just fine though.

The production didn't seem to blend well. Instead of the futuristic effects, perhaps crowd cheering, applause, loud camera clicks, fireworks may have worked better. Mega-Star Image stuff? Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the advice David! I did have fireworks in there, but they were obviously too low or you would have heard them. I like your suggestions regarding the other effects for production.
May the best red neck win. Laughing

Allison, I, too, had fun with that BlueRidge spot although I don't care to post it here. I liked your delivery a lot on that one, though.

The one below was just submitted (dry) for an agency. I just really like it because it's so much in that area that I like to do... the introspective/touchy/feely stuff. I added my own mux for this forum. Enjoy... I hope!

Scott:

Beautiful job on Tandus. I don't see how they can pass you buy on that one.

As a SmartCastAway, I don't visit this thread much any more. I kind'a feel like the kid with his nose pressed up against the candy shop window.

But there is some outstanding sweet stuff here. Allison was convincing and effervescent and playful and engaging. The Michael/Thom Old West was excellent. And that, Scott, was an outstanding read. I like your slower, Wilkins-esque pace.

I really must stop by more often.

Here are a couple I did today. First, an announcer tag for The Missouri Afterschool Network. Here's the instruction:

Read should be warm, professional.

Then, a gold coin promo. I wasn't too sure about this one. Is either of the two takes enthusiastic enough? Is it too laid back? The instruction was:

Male voice, mature, serious but friendly. Use in spot radio for maximum two months.

Sweet, Thom.
Was it Pat Butrum or Slim Pickens you were after with that "Harley" character?

I had the pleasure of attending the "Golden Boot" awards ceremony back in 1997 at the Century Plaza in L-A and the following guys were there (to my memory):
Clint Walker, James Drury, Denver Pyle (his last public appearance), Jack Elam, Ben Johnson, Will Hutchins, Karl Malden, Leo Gordon (one of the greatest villains of all times in westerns) -- Robert Urich, Dale Evans and Anne Jeffreys.
Randolph Scott's children were there to accept his posthumous award.
John Ford was given the founder's award.
The Golden boot organization was founded by Pat Butrum as sort of an oscars for Western film actors -- and the night I was there, many attendees were decked out in full Hollywood cowboy costumes.
Pat died a couple of years before the one I attended.
