Microsoft Uses Intel Based Macs in its own Pro Tools studios

Thanks for the heads up. I really have no need for it as I have Pro Tools and Audition. So I'm pretty much covered on DAW applications. I don't have the patience for experimenting.

I didn't find Tracktion 2 to be that difficult to use. I love Pyramix (which is PT compatible). It's pricey, but one of the most versatile apps I've ever seen.

So long as clients use PT and AA, I'll be keeping those.

As for the topic at hand, it's a non-issue to me. Apple has several PCs in several of their corp. locations. Sun has both, and some other stuff.

Just like any other studio, you usually end up using whatever the recording engineer feels most comfortable with.

It's a tool. Windows isn't made exclusively for audio use. It's made for many different types of jobs. Just because Pro Tools runs better on a Mac, that doesn't automatically negate Windows as an OS. It's one tool...One tool used by a specific group of individuals for a specific purpose.

It's fairly commonly known that Pro Tools simply works better with Mac. Porting it to PC was a major undertaking. Just as porting Audition to Mac would be a disaster. Would everyone begin to assume that Mac is inferior because it wouldn't properly run Audition? I doubt it.

Microsoft Office works great on my PC and I guarantee a lot more people use Office than Pro Tools. Microsoft working with Digidesign to resolve all issues is not going to be a top priority for MS. Digidesign could move it up on their list of to-do's, but there's no need. In a professional setting, everyone already buys their Mac version and in a home setting, the Windows version does fine. I don't know of any major studio using Pro Tools on PC, so I wouldn't expect MS's professional recording environment to be any different.

They're just tools for a specific job!

One day I was under my 69 Firebird (Pontiac) and what did I see, on the transmission, bigger than day FOMOCO (Ford Motor Company). Yea they bought transmissions from Ford. This is not the only example but the first I took note of.

Digidesign could make PT run better on PC but they don't have any real incentive. They have their base and it is mostly on Mac and the Apple folks are happy, Digi is Happy, and I have Nuendo which make me joyful.

The Nuendo or maybe it was Cubase was first written for Atari but Steinberg did a masterful job of porting and I think they may have done an equally good job of porting for Mac.

It just those damn condescending ads that Apple run on TV. I am told when they use the look down their nose method in Japan that their (MAC) sales went south.

All this, to say that Emmett is spot on.
