Anybody have any CD dupe places they recommend or would stay clear of? I need them to print the art and I need jewel cases. The full package.
I was thinking of Disk Factory but some folks swear by Disc Makers. _________________ Voice Talent Productions

Hi Erik,
Yes, I have a great recommendation: Edisc.
www.edisc.com Toll free # 877-334-7248, or 303-770-6600.
I've had my CD's duplicated there since day one of my career and I can't recommend them highly enough! Super fast, professional, high quality, experienced and also incredibly helpful staff. Whether you have one or a million CD’s to duplicate, they can deliver. Usually when I place an order I can pick it up the very next day. They also have an exceptional graphic design department, if you need that type of service. They do a lot more than just duplicating too so check out their website. (And tell Joel I said hi!)
They also always design and print my business cards and post cards for me too.
I've only ever worked with them from Colorado, however I'm certain they work internationally and have competitive shipping policies.
They definitely have the FULL PACKAGE.
Good luck!

I have been using Disk Faktory for a number of years now, and other than the fact that odd quantities aren't available, the quality has been top notch for short run. Using a simple design program like Sure Thing allows for a lot of flexibility in design, as it interfaces with their Everest machines quite well. Other progs work too, of course - but for a 20-buck program....The paper elements always come out smooth looking and glossy, on-disc printing is clear & sharp. My 2nd thru 5th albums have all been done with DF and have certainly had no complaints (other than the sanity level of the music). I used to use Mixonic since they had more flexibility in quantities at the low end, but IMO the quality is not quite there. Not sure what DiscMakers quality is, certainly they were one of the early players...but short-run changes everything...unless you're not talking short-run. In that case I use CDMan in Canada. _________________ Chris Mezzolesta

I'm having my first batch duplicated at this moment by DiscMasters ( http://www.discmasters.com ). They were highly recommended to me. I'm getting my second release of original music duped by them, with full 4-color inserts, laser-burned labels, etc. They're not the cheapest around, but I wanted high quality. They run extensive tests on your master to make sure that errors and dropouts are minimal, and I've had to reburn and resend the master TWICE now to meet their level of acceptability. That's fine with music, but I'm not sure how critical that is if you're talking about a voice demo c.d. _________________ Scott R. Pollak

We purchased high speed duplicator (master unit and three slaves) and I have a Xerox Lasar 3560 gorgeous color printer (same one printers use!) and we order our blank CDs and boxes from a wholesale house that delivers free and we've been doing our own stuff plus we duplicate and do labels for clients for the past five years now. This is an expense that all career vo folks should be bringing "in-house" and spend your money elsewhere. If you don't want to do it, then hire a college student to do it on your equipment but get out of that "high dollar" duplication house thing. _________________ Bettye Zoller: CLIOS, ADDYS, GOLDEN RADIOS, AUDIES, Member Voice and Speech Trainers Assoc., AFTRA SAG, 34 years a pro. |

Made typo: Meant to say our printer is the new Xerox 8560 model. It also does gloss color postcards, even full color glossy headshots, comb-bound manuals, everything. It's wonderful. _________________ Bettye Zoller: CLIOS, ADDYS, GOLDEN RADIOS, AUDIES, Member Voice and Speech Trainers Assoc., AFTRA SAG, 34 years a pro. |
