So this might be a strange topic, but I'm just curious to find out how often everyone else does VO work. So give me a run down of what VO work you did this week.
And yes, I'm prepared to be incredibly envious of those of you who can't squeeze it all in!
My last week:
- 1 infomercial for a national orthopedics company.
- 1 website hotel tour for Hampton Inns
- 1 local cable spot for a karate studio
- 2 tags for the Golden Dragon Acrobats show
- 1 local cable spot for a boat store
- 3 local radio spots
Did I get rich? No. But it was a fairly steady week. I also got a call from a national cable network about voicing an upcoming project. I'm REALLY excited about it, but don't want to jinx it. I'll say who it is when it is more concrete.
OK, so post your week.

Pretty slow week for me;
- Nissan-dealer spot for a local radio
- the weekly soccer-league promospot for a local radio, and
- imaging fresh-up's for a radio network.
Off course my syndicated radioshow too, but that's an ongoing gig.
Edit: ooooh, ooh! More work!

Let's see; Monday, I changed my home answering message. Tuesday, I billed myself for the Monday recording. On Wednesday, I paid it.
Today, I took a break and drank beer.
I love this job.
(OK; not really, but the truth is just too tedious...)

- Hospital employee training video
- eLearning out the ears
- scads of voicemail greetings (there's a business for EVERYTHING, in case you wondered)
When I woke up from that:
- a fun little radio spot
- video game character (apparently I sound like I can kick alien butt)

VERY slow week for me, too. Topped off by my hard drive crashing this past Monday (Dell came out and replaced it... thank God for Carbonite online backup!).
Let's see....
... got my 200 copies of my new cd from Discmasters ready to go online for sale...
.... received my new PRS Tremonti SE guitar that I won on ebay (see below)....
... spent every friggin' night at the local theatre where I'm directing "Wait Until Dark"....
... oh, yeah, and voice work: wrote, voiced and mixed a handful of spots for the local radio station, did my usual daily dose of anywhere from 3 to 10 underwriter spots for Atlanta's NPR station, did a couple of lines for a V123 job that I auditioned for TWO MONTHS ago and finally won...
... did an annual project for some sort of Southeastern Israeli-American business awards (Eagle Star Awards). This is, I think, the fourth year I've voiced them.
... Kicked the cat a few times (the little one, not the big old fat one.. I like her...)
... told my wife and kids I love them.
... wondered when the next voice job will come in.
... quit worrying about it and played my new guitar... (ahem, see below again...)

Automotive Automotive Automotive. First of the month, full budgets, new incentives, "Free Gas" for everybody. "We need it today! The radio stations are screaming at me". 4 new on-going clients and so far 22 spots since last thursday. Oh yeah....narrative for a new national hunting show I got here and a short narrative for an animated short also landed here. 3 auditions.
I mean.....surely I could pick up just ONE restaurant. NOT!

Sunday -- went to Fenway Park and watched the Sox beat the Rays. Recorded the freebie "Stupid Al" voice track when I got home.
Monday -- directed the midday lottery drawing.
Tuesday -- played golf, then got home and tried to fix a convergence problem on my rear-projection TV, succeeding in making it worse.
Wednesday -- weighed lottery ping pong balls, directed midday lottery drawing, went to the casino and lost $30, did my weekly radio spot-voicing stint (about 2 dozen spots to read; works out to a real crappy per spot rate and a great deal for the station).
Thursday -- did a VO for Lego and while I was at the studio they came up with a second job, a VO for the Eastern States Exposition a/k/a "The Big E," basically the state fair for all of New England.
Friday -- will do the on-camera drawing of the midday lottery numbers.
Saturday -- will shop for Mothers Day present.
Sunday -- will drive to my brother's house in Maine for Mother's Day, then drive my mother home to NH, then drive back to CT.
Also during the week I submitted 9 Voice123 demos and about the same number at Voices. No jobs. So this is a typical week for me: a lot of activity, not necessarily a lot of revenue.

-phone patch with another talent along with the director and client for a credit union commercial
-website walk-through for Conferencecaster.tv
-presentation for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Authority
-spoken words for two house/techno songs
-IVR for Jax Say Hello
-various recordings for RejectionHotline.com , including a new Facebook application
-commercial for fitness center
-commercial for cosmetic surgeon in Austin,TX
-promos and such for PowerXL, a radio station in Turkey
-2 commercials for First Things First...where I was an ostrich and a giraffe
So, a little bit of everything this week!

I'll play.
Friday - Liners for an online radio station. Cheapo lunch with a VO friend. Bought a rhododendron & two lupines at the garden club sale (anyone garden around here?) Wrote copy for a local realtor who's site I voice. Recorded features for a middle-eastern radio station.
Saturday - AM Airshift in NYC at crack of dawn. Station is moving, so I took home a chair to use in my office; sitting on it now.
Sunday - AM Airshift in NYC at crack of dawn. Went to the Bronx to watch the Yankees beat Seattle. Edited tracks for middle-eastern station and sent them out.
Monday - Cut two pages of liners for a national radio network (New gig-Yea!) Two auditions in the City. Returned home for a page of imaging & disclaimer for satellite radio.
Tuesday - Two local radio spots. In-flight demo for an airline. Arabic lesson.
Wednesday - Two pages of liners for radio network. Audition in the City. Demo for in-store radio.
Thursday - One local spot. Audition at home. Invoiced week's clients.
Finally planted the plants I bought on Friday. Joined that VO my-space site.
Friday - Will do online reads for local realtor. Will do another page of liners for radio network. Will do two local spots, and edit one from earlier in the week.
Every day I also scour for jobs. But as I don't subscribe to V123 and you can't find me in the search, ain't nothing coming from there.

Robert, I recorded an audition for my home answering machine. Talked to seeker, I think I nailed it. Wait for confirmation.
Turns out they wanted someone that sounded like George Clooney.
Ah, the VO business.

Yes, but the thing is that there are at least 2 other girls I know of in London who are also bilingual and are great vo and singers. What I'm hoping is that the casting director didn't think of inviting them to the casting!

| Here's hoping they didn't get invited, but you've still got a 1 in 3 chance at the gig. And in the world of VO, those are excellent odds!
