Hey there. Ok so I got repremanded by v123 today for using my account, to let my 8-year old child, submit an audition, for a child casting today.

As a both talent and voice seeker, I'm curious of your professional and/or personal position regarding using our accounts for our own immediate family. I have my view on this, what is yours?

hiya, Anthony !!! nice to see you posting on the boards again... been a long time...

anyway .... did the seeker make issue of it w/ V123, or did a V-comissar make an issue of it while randomly trolling submissions for "violations" ?

imo, if your kid had the chops, facilities, and direction to do what the seeker wanted, then V123 should of stayed out of it as a matter of following the "free market principals" that they claim to adhere to..

further more..... ummmm ... oh well, i was going to go on and on and kick the zampolit in the shin a bit.. but.. i'll withdraw for a moment of zen instead...

again, good to see you ...

Be Well

How many eight year olds have their own accounts? Just curious.

how many - exactly!!! lets do the math shall we...lets us say mom or dad talent has 4 kids in the biz under 13 years old @ $300 per year ea = $1200 plus $300 for the dad / moms fee = $1500 smackers. surely they can just write the check today! Razz opps.. might have just offered another idea - the premier family star pack. you heard it first here folks! actually i'm pro v123, but this one hit too close to 'homeS.'

thanks john, it was the v123 team sending me the email rejecting the 3 line audition. truth is i've had dozens of talent send me auditions on my own castings held here and also as a talent i've
sent many auditions from my kids the 5 years now. so very odd it all of a sudden is a issue. hmm. worried - paid participation down??? thanks for the feedback brother.

I've sent in a couple of auditions of my 11 year old son at VOICES -- no prob with them.

Was the lead specifically for an adult who could DO a child's voice, or an actual child's voice?

Good point...

I too would like to know how many eight year olds are sitting behind the screen all day long, waiting for all those $50 leads...

Well, Jacob, you know I think most 8 year olds would be more than happy to play at their computers all day long waiting for $50 leads. Sure beats school.

As a voice producer, I mostly produce myself, but sometimes produce others. So IF I even get the opportunity to answer a lead, then I should be able to submit whomever I want to -- as a producer. After all, that's what v123 refers to us as -- and that's what we are. Yes, I believe they're looking for more money. If they would give good free market service to those customers they have, instead of clamping down on them and throwing orange warnings at them at every turn, they might actually get more renewals. It doesn't seem so hard to me.

I posted this on another thread, but I did something similar a week or so ago when the shrimp lead was posted. I didn't see myself pulling that one off, and I turned to my wife--who I've always suspected had some talent for voiceover--and asked her how she would do the voice of a shrimp. She did a quick impression, and I encouraged her to see what we could do in the studio.

She put down four takes, with no direction except mic positioning. I was blown away by her raw ability to get into this character that I ended up posting it. I was sooo proud of her, and I thought that--even though she has no real interest in pursuing voiceover--I just had to submit her effort (the best from the four takes). And I think it's a shame she's not that interested, because I believe she has the ability to see a character and come up with a voice to match.

Anyway, as yet, no reprimand from Voice 123. And even if I got one, it would be well worth it. I'm her biggest fan, and I would have paid handsomely for the experience.

thanks for sharing that. priceless example of why it only further benefits the 'voice seeker' working with people who have families and spouses. just never know who has "that one voice". i hope she gets the bug too.

Possibly, they're looking into a spin-off site -- shall we call it VOICES R US?
