Richard,
I can't count the times I've missed streets, or even my destination while listening to The Beach Boys, thinking about summer, cars, and the beach. I've drove by an exit on the highway, and had to drive another 10 miles before I could turn around.
I can't admit that to my wife though.

Just a short message to let you all know that I've just finished my first session with Phyllis! Wow, what an experience!
As you might know, English is not my first language, I'm a native German VO but I would encourage all foreign language VO to make that experience, too, because it's not about language, it's about voice: No matter what language you speak, as long as you can make conversation in English, go ahead - this is the voice-coach I was looking for in Europe - but could not find!
It is amazing what you can learn in just an hour about yourself, your voice, your profession... Looking forward to my next session (after having done my homework
Thank you, Phyllis

Thomas, the pleasure was all mine. And I would so enjoy working with other oversees VO clients, thanks for opening that door.
And to Ed and Richard, yes, I have to turn down the radio quite often when driving!
Plus: everyone, check out Thomas' website. It contains some amazing work. My favorites are the auto commercials. They may be in German, but you can feel the read nonetheless.
Also: go to Thomas' V123 site and listen to the clip on "Dialects." It's hysterically funny! Wow.
Note to those not registered who want coaching: As a member of the Coach Program here at V123, I can arrange for you, as a client of mine, to receive a complimentary one month membership. Don't hesitate to ask; it is a benefit of working with me (or anyone else on the program). _________________ Phyllis K. |

Jacob, I've listened to your demos and...we need to talk.
Seriously, I did listen and your one short English piece was, accent wise, excellent. You sounded American, indeed. You are pushing very hard with your voice on the delivery and you really don't need to. Your voice has enough resonance and depth that if you tweak it a bit, you will be very pleased - of course you need me to show you how to do it, ha ha.
Now I know your language is very different from English but the first part of your dry corporate read sounds like it is running backwards - if in English. But it's not, of course. Right? (Are you sure it's not running backwards?!)
I would like to work with you - why not send me a nice, rambling MP3 (in English ) and talk about your past, present and hopes for the future, what you like and don't like and so on. Every so often, repeat what you've just said in Danish so I can see what you are doing. Send it to voicecoach at phyllisk dot com. (It's written out so the spam bots won't harvest the email address. Please add the "." and the "@" for "dot" and "at.") _________________ Phyllis K. |

I had my first session with Phyllis today, and it was great! She is so user friendly! For every good thing there’s a little adjustment that I never would have got, and would keep on doing the same over and over. It’ll be a challenge to unlearn some things, and having homework is, well cool! No more Beach Boys on the stereo in the car, I’ve got mouth and jaw exercises to do! I can’t wait to see the other cars at the stop lights.
Thanks Phyllis |

Hey wait a minute, I didn't say you couldn't listen to the Beach Boys! In fact, why not sing along while doing the exercises, that ought to be quite the spectacle. _________________ Phyllis K. |

Hi all....I just got off the phone with Phyllis....This is my 3rd or 4th session with her. Awsome!! She is helping me take my voice from the front part of my face....and move it to the spot in my throat where it needs to be. We've been using French to do this since I am able to pronounce the french in the right spot for my voice. We have been switching back and forth sentence by sentence which is helping me hear and feel where I need to be......
I know with Phyllis' help I'll be successful with my career.
Voice on Y'all.....

Hey folks!
Just had my first session with Phyllis. Let me tell you... It's amazing what she can pick up over the phone!
Just a bit of background.... I'm having trouble with the mechanics of my speaking (siblilant s's, lispy sounding s's, soft r's) and she was able to pick up on it right away. She said it sounded sort of like I was speaking with a tongue stud in. Well, no, my tongue is not pierced but I am tongue tied. I never thought about that being the source or contributing factor to my problem.
Phyllis gives a free evaluation (I did that first) and I highly reccommend doing that because that'll prove to you that she knows what she's talking about. Trust me, she'll wow you with what she picks up on you. Plus you'll find out what a great person she is to work with.
Looking forward to the next session knowing that she's highly supportive in between. _________________ Dina's Voice To go!

I have just completed my first session with Phyllis, and to be honest I thought she was superb! I feel very empowered by her words and she gives you a really tangible instruction on how you are using your voice, and I you could be using your voice. I am excited by the possibilities and I am looking forward to my second session with Phyllis. |

During my session, Phyllis had me do something a bit different, I recorded 2 scripts using different emotions, not what we'd call my voiceover voice.
I was to do the script; angry, happy, sad, and concerned, all with the same words!
I had a ball doing it, but to hear her on the other end of the line listening, cheering, and laughing was worth the price of admission!
Homework is getting more interesting, i've worked on the mechanics of my mouth, now it's just making a whole lot of new sounds that I've never used in front of a microphone.
Thanks Phyllis!!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait till next week.
