David,
I had the Alesis MultiMix 8 USB. It is very noisy. It wasn't until I bought the Fast Track Pro that I was able to clean up my signal chain. I now use the Alesis as a headphone amp. It just didnt work well for me as a USB interface.
Thanks, _________________ Scott Paxton

Scott:
Thanks for the info! I haven't actually used one (I don't have one) so I was just posting what I'd found from the Musician's Friend website. Alesis makes some pretty decent stuff, for the money, so I'm a bit surprised to hear it's noisy. I have an old Behringer analog mixer that I use, right into the analog audio jack in the back of my iMac, and it's actually pretty quiet - I have to do very little cleanup in post because of the mixer.
I'm wondering if anyone out there is familiar with any of the other USB/Firewire mixers on the market and what kind of results you've gotten - anyone?

Apparently the MultiMix CANNOT drive the SM7B! The lovely Haneen Arafat sold her SM7B (to me, actually) because of this. Just FYI. _________________ Regards,
