I'm posting in "Who Got the Gig?" although it's a gig I didn't get. Last week I got a Private Invitation to audition for a nice 4-figure job. What gave me confidence was there were only two invitations. Not only that, the second guy never got around to submitting before the project was manually closed by the seeker.
Today I got an e-mail informing me that "Our Execs on the project have chosen another voice."
Oh well. At least he's going to keep me on his short list of VO guys so I'll hae a decent shot at any future projects. _________________ For more voice over demos, my life story, and other foolishness, please visit my website at www.leegordonproductions.com |

Hey Lee,
Sorry you didn't get picked but congratulations on getting a private invitation. I don't know if you get them often but I haven't seen one yet myself. It's good to be on anybody's short list for the right reasons. Keep that in mind.
Saw you pullin' the numbers today!

Lee, for what it's worth, I got a somewhat similar e-mail today.
I got a private invite last week to audition from a client who I've done work for before (he originally found me via V123). He also had about 50 open invitations out, but after I submitted my read, he said it was perfect and would I mind if he used me on the scratch track to present to the client in the hopes it would sway them my way. Of course I said yes. About a week passed. Today he wrote to apologize and say the client went with another voice.
I told him that honestly it's okay... it happens all the time in this biz. But I thanked him for letting me know.
Yes, these ones that seem to be 'in the bag' sting a bit when they fall thru, but it's such a small drop in an otherwise big bucket. Especially for a top-drawer talent like you, Lee. _________________ Scott R. Pollak

I think the lottery lost a few bucks today. I pulled 4-1-1 (today's date). _________________ For more voice over demos, my life story, and other foolishness, please visit my website at www.leegordonproductions.com |
