... got a lead today, seeker wishes translation and recording, of course a custom demo (based on original script), seeker is expecting 10 auditions, so I sit down, translate, record, go into the system, saw that 2 talents only had answered so far, pressed ok for each of the following alert boxes saying YES I WANT TO SUBMIT AN AUDITION, YES I KNOW I HAVE 60 MINUTES ONLY TO ANSWER, YES I KNOW ANSWERING LEADS THAT DON'T FIT MY VOICE MIGHT RESULT IN A PUNISHMENT BY SMARTCAST, YES I KNOW I HAVE TO BE THANKFUL TO V123 FOR PROVIDING SUCH A GREAT SERVICE FREE OF CHARGE (for seekers Wink

, uploaded custom demo, wanted to preview my audition... and got a screen sayin: the seeker has closed this audition...

Voice123, please take note that I have closed my intention to renew my membership in a couple of months...

Thomas, I feel your pain-

So frustrating-
Although, in your case, it appears it was less V123 and perhaps more the particular seeker-

AND-

I've got to say, (and it has been happening a bit more)-
I would so much rather see a smaller number of auditions requested, even to the degree of leads closing early if the seeker finds the voice that's right-

AS opposed to the spate of leads that had 150 - 200 auditions that were never even opened-

Wasn't there some talk once of not requiring a custom demo for low budget jobs (or was that IVR only)?
That way, the seeker can screen the voices for quality and type from the submitted "generics" -- then ask for a "call back" custom from the top few?

It's the nature of doing this over the internet.
I have rushed to get an audition finished and ready -- only to find it had closed by the time I was ready to upload
-- and the idea of rushing it goes against the whole principle of doing it at home...where you should be able to get it at least the way you like it before sending it.
