Got this one! My first one from V123. Woot!

Audition file is attached.

They ended up wanting a slightly more "up" read, but overall it seemed to work out pretty well.

Listening to others' winning auditions has been a great help to me, so hopefully this will help someone.

Very good Rob!

I tried for that one too, tried too much to sound like the national Lexus voice which is what they asked for, wasn't natural enough like yours was.

Congratulations!

What I don't get is why this is only your first gig from here unless you've only sent in three auditions. You're good!

Good for you, Rob! I have absolutely no doubt this is the beginning of the floodgates opening up for you. Kudos, my friend!!!

Thanks David. I too thought of the national Lexus guy and just kind of tried to channel him in my own way. I knew I couldn't sound close enough to him to fool anybody, so rather I just tried to emulate his attitude

Thanks to you also, Scott. It was actually my 85th audition.

Working with Nancy Wolfson for the past 9 months has really made a difference, among other things.

I've never really gotten discouraged with the number of losing auditions because I've always been aware that this site is full of talented people like yourselves!

P.S. Scott, did I read on one of these forums that you use a Neumann TLM 103? Just bought one and am waiting delivery on it.
The Lexus spot was done on my trusty Sennheiser shotgun

You did not read that, Rob. I use the workingman's special, an EV RE-20.

That's an awesome mic. We had one at one of the first radio stations where I worked, and I LOOOOVED it.

You sound great on it BTW

Rob,
Well done, man. I'm excited for you. I'm so glad the Nancy Wolfson experience was so enjoyable and definitely worth the price of admission.
Still grinding away over at Voices with about 350 auditions and not a nibble, but one day.
Since our meet up in Columbus, I can now say, I knew you back when.
Congrats and well deserved,
-roger

Hey Roger,

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Believe me, I know the feeling of audition after audition after audition and little or no gigs to show for it. And while this was certainly a victory, I still have those days and will probably continue to at least occasionally.

Auditioning, to me, is like sales. And the key word is "Next!"
