That's great, Ember and Dave!!
I can never get enough of Steve Martin, which you'd know if you've been following my recent obsession with him. _________________ Diane

I forgot about this thread.
Two movies I've seen recently;
Ocean's 13
We Own The Night
Ocean's 13 was great! Not as good as the first, but still worth the watch.
We Own The Night is simply a must for anyone. Especially guys though - if you have a good relationship with your dad this movie will really move you. And there's one part that will bring every guy almost to tears guaranteed. _________________ http://lucasnugent.com lucas@lucasnugent.com

Diane,
I loved The Commitments! I have the soundtrack and thought the movie was great. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Geln Hansard who starred in Once was also in The Commitments! Once is another one worth watching!
Even though St. Pat's was yesterday... Are you familiar with Darby O'Gill and the Little People? This very sweet Irish love story stars Sean Connery along with Janet Munro. It was filmed in 1959.
A well done serious film about Ireland that was out last year is:
The Wind that Shakes the Barley
Worth watching, but be warned it is not an 'easy' film.
I am glad this thread has stayed alive, very fun!
One I will add to my list of suggested viewing is:
Gone Baby Gone
Very well done and it lead me right down the garden path (which I do like in a movie). I was not expecting the movie to end the way it does. _________________ Heather

Yes. Heather -- the first movie I recommended in this thread was ONCE -- a beautiful film. I bought the DVD and have watched it again since I saw it in the theaters. The Frames are so good -- and I was thrilled that "Falling Slowly" won the Oscar for best song. The Irish are a passionate people. And make gorgeous music. _________________ Diane

Well don't I feel silly.
I did not event think to look back through the thread. I have been reading along since the thread started, so I only read the current page. That will teach me not to review! LOL
But, the movie was so good it deserved a second mention! _________________ Heather

I went back to find this thread, just so I can recommend the film I saw last night -- an indie called THE VISITOR. Shot entirely in NYC, it is beautifully crafted, and superbly acted. A quiet, character movie -- so very moving. _________________ Diane

I'm glad Diane brought this thread back up to the top because I wanted to add a couple:
- "The World's Fastest Indian" starring Anthony Hopkins. Came out in 2005 and available as a rental. True story and simply wonderful. If you don't end up with a lump in your throat in this one then you need to check your pulse.
- "Speed Racer". Bleccccch. I only went because it was my daughter's birthday and it was what she wanted to see. Visually and graphically stunning and a feast for the eyes, but that's it. No storyline at all, and painfully long and overdone with endless ridiculous racing scenes. I actually, literally fell asleep during this movie and was only awakened by the very loud parts of it. _________________ Scott R. Pollak Warm. Real. Natural. www.voicebyscott.com

Ok, I'm just gonna say it. I hated "Ali". I finally watched it this weekend because I really enjoy Will Smith and heard how great he was in this film. Yes, he was great but that's about it. It is so sssslllllooooowwwww. I was bored to tears. And even though I was thrilled to see the end credits, it just ended weird. If you want to know more about Ali, rent "When We Were Kings". It's more of a documentary, but much more fascinating _________________ Life is short but sweet, for certain

OK guys & gals...here's my take on the Summer of '08 so far:
1. If you haven't yet, you MUST go see IRON MAN.
It is SOOO much fun, and exciting. Robert Downey is hilarious, and it's really well done. My fave so far.
2. Coming in a close 2nd is INDIANA JONES. The usual Spielberg fun & special effects. But I really liked Harrison Ford/Sheia LaBouf playing off each other. Great action, and great popcorn movie.
3. Sex & the City?
I'll pass...but the ladies are going out in droves for this one.
Any ladies out there seen it yet? Let's have a review!!!!!!!!!! _________________ JC Haze Voiceworks www.JCHaze.com

Thanks for ressurecting this thread.
I'm with J.C. - Indiana Jones was fun! Generally I don't get too much into movies have a lot of Computer Graphics but I'm such a fan of the series this was too hard to turn down. Ol' Indy looked kinda grey in the first scene but after about twenty minutes I was into it!
And yes, please do let us know what you thought of S.I.T.C ladies.... _________________ **Even the caged bird sings**
