You have your new mic coming as well.

It came late in the day - and I only had time to do a little playing but you can hear what it's like without any EQ or anything different than the other mics.

The first cut is two short clips, which mic is better?

The second is all the new mic, it is a much longer clip, and my daughter bursts into the room, hearing things she's not used to hearing! I pulled her volumn up so you can hear her better. I didn't mean for it to run so long, in fact, I edited out a lot of it. For audio technical folks like Colin, it may be of interest artifact-wise, to hear this long a clip in such a circumstance.

So, let me know what you think! I could definitely hear a difference. The new mic is a Shure SM7A.

Phyllis - let me start by saying: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Nice. Scare the crap out of your kid - classic!

I think the SM7 is terrific for your voice. I know a lot of female VOs who use and love that mic. I think if you pull a quilt down from the top shelf and hang it loosely on the wall in front of you you can pull that "hollowness" out of it. 100% improvement, in my book!

It will be a happy day for me when I have a system compatible and worthy of commercial work, and I understand the difference between that kind of quality, and what I have now. My use of the Alessis is not in any way saying that I disagree with you about this mixer; it’s just not feasible for me to replace it right now. I was able to trade out with a voice coaching client’s husband for the Shure SM7A in hopes that it would improve my voice quality even with the board’s issues. So, please use your excellent ears to tell me, in the short clip with the two takes, which mic sounds better. And second, if the second clip’s overall mic sound is an improvement over my previous mic. Thanks in advance.

Yep, Shure is best. SM7 is a good mic (if you like dynamics.) Sounds best of the three and youi sound WAY better than you ever have before. It's such a shame though that you don't have a clean pre. Man would you sound awsome then. A little processing wouldn't hurt either though JS Gilbert would vehemetly disagree with me there.

Here's mine - had the bed loaded up for something else, so thought I would throw it in as b/g.

Wouldn't he be laughing at us now? I can imagine he's loading up the V123 site from home and doing spoofs of US.

Now that would be funny......

Carey all the way, Baby - livin' large through bogus demos beats working - although I'm at the arena now, between periods - scoreless after one.

And I do NOT enjoy saying 'Puck" in front of 4,000 people - in case....well, you know. One slip and I'm a dead (Daffy) Duck.

I might as well take my shot at it too. Does just about everybody out there, when they hear Don on the Geico spot, try to imitate him...and then your wife walks in the room?
