Well, Scott -
I'll agree that these are matters of taste - and you do allow that your response is subjective-

BUT-

For what it's worth-

Didn't David just win this year's VOICEY for personal branding..?

I, for one, think it's a great concept...

Yes, I also love David's beer tap menu! It shows personality and a sense of humor. It gives me the impression he'd be fun to work with, and that his work would be creative.

I have meant to tell you, Peter I love your avatar/web page art -- its appeal is classy, even low key sexy. I would however, though the Savoa insignia is prestigious, make it smaller as it distracts a bit too much from the overall effect.

But this is Michael's thread -- I love the Altoids idea. It's true that you get more with candy...

Thanks, again-

Thanks Peter and Diane.

Scott's right, "taste" is a very subjective thing, as we discover from our ratings after we submit auditions....

Nancy Wolfson helped me with the concept; Village Green Studios, the graphic artist she works closely with, put the web site together. I wanted something that might make people smile when they navigated the site, and would also be something they remember. For me the important thing was to try to link the image, the domain name, and my "print" all together. To that end it's been successful; I signed with three more agents within a week of contacting them via e-mail (with a link to my site), and I landed a job with one of those agents within days of signing with them.

The trick is to know when you're onto something and then to maintain the courage of your conviction. I felt as though I'd hooked one with this concept, and pressed ahead without bothering to solicit a lot of outside input/feedback. As someone else said here lately, too many cooks ruin the stew. I'd probably still be tinkering with it if I asked a bunch of people "Whatchya think?"

One more thing about David's site and the beer tap motif.
When you click on something -- the sound plays instantaneously.
Click -- and boom it's there running. That's very impressive.
How'd you do that?
Most sites seem to take a bit of time to load and play.
Nitpick: the bio in a beer stein however was difficult to read.

Michael,
I wish I could tell you; but I'm pretty ignorant on such matters--that's why I had to pay my web designer a tidy sum. And I agree on the bio "nitpick." When I update my demos I'll have him change that around, too.
