Hey gang,

Thought I'd post a link to some stuff I did a while back.

Improv VO?

It was a neat concept - basically, we started with a very generic outline of a Superman episode. Then the first VA took it, and recorded lines for several parts (I did 4 Wink). This got passed on to the second VA, who added their lines, etc. The final person was the engineer who mixed in music, sound effects, and the rest of the processing.

And the result? Take a listen:
Superman Episode 1
(there's also another episode here once you're addicted)

I'd love to try something of this nature with you guys Wink,

Victor = funny! Always was suspicious of Robin (tights?)

Well, I guess I was a bit sparse on the explaination part, so here's a better try:

1) someone comes up with a general outline
(ie. Batman and Robin are relaxing at home, when the commissioner calls with a new villian on the rampage, the villian is holding the city for ransom, B&R run around for a bit, find the villian, defeat him, disarm the threat, then meet with the Commish for coffee at StarBucks)

2) a brave VA (named Victor) records all of their lines for all of their characters. That's the hard part, because you have to supply dis-jointed lines, with only a loose plot in mind...

3) another VA takes the already-recorded lines, and adds in their own characters.

4) repeat step 3 a couple of times.

5) a talented editor (guys? step up now!), takes the entire mess-o-lines, and adds music, narration, sound effects, etc to produce a finished piece.

So simple, a child (prodigy) could do it!

Gee, sounds a bit tougher than it was...

Still game? Jump in the pool, the water's icy cold!,

Well, I am still in. Lets just roll with your setup.

Start out as they are relaxing around Wayne Manor. I think we need to keep the Boy robin ambiguoiusly on the edge of coming out...lol.

Batman keep as being the rich uncle as usual but a swinger type.

Alfred will just be stiff as usual with the usual dry Brit humor.

I like the B and R thing because I think there was more wacky characters and more room for improv.

We will need someone to step up as B and R. Then of course the usual compliment of badguys.

Any takers???

Oh, if I remember, there was always an announcer guy too during the episodes to set things up. Wink

Ok gang...

Since I opened this can-o-wax (ball-o-worms?), I'll start us off.

I'll record Bruce Wayne / Batman, Thug #17, and maybe one other misc. character later today.

Then I'll post my lines, one file per character, and pass the baton on to the next VA.

We'll still need an editor to make the final line choices and mix it up (Beuller? Hello? Step up, if you dare Twisted Evil ).

Catch you in a bit (SBT, SBC),
Joe

All Right Caped Crusader Comrades!,

I've posted my Bruce/Batman, and Thug #17 (plus the "script").
They are un-edited (not even normalized), so the mix-master can merge everyone more seamlessly...

Victor - you're up next!
Take a listen to my stuff, then choose a couple characters and record their lines.
When you're done, post the mp3's (one per character), and pass the baton on to the next VA (Lynne).

Lynne - I think you're on deck, after Victor... so you may want to listen too. You'll be at least one character (Poison Sumac), and any others you want.

All - We still need a final mixer (Scott, I know you're drooling for this one!).

Up, Up, and Up Some More,
Joe "I'm Batman" Thomas

Some of the pauses are for SFX (phone rings, etc) to be inserted later. Wink
