Hello all,
Just wanted to say howdy and wish everyone the best of luck.
I have done voices and casting for computer games for 14 years and have opened the doors for a lot of talent. Game VOs require most talents to be able to fill several parts and sound different, as well as being able to die and do pains and attacks energetically in 1-2 seconds. My specialty.
Feel free to pick my brain (and give me some time to respond.)
I am not posting this to sell anything, and of course I am open to new talent, but I don't have a project this very second.
Happy Halloween to all.

Hello Lani - pleased to meet you
I've been fortunate to land a few games as well - they're a hoot!
Do you have a studio or web site?
I'd love to find out more about your jobs.
Thanks,
Joe J Thomas

Greetings Lani and Joe, Brad Venable here.
I've been in business for 5 years now, the last 18 months really seriously, and I want nothing more that to get into games. I have done some free stuff to get some experience, and I have been a Voice123 member since August '05. Since then, I have done VO for Flash games, toy prototypes, and online animations. What I really want is to get into video games. I am thinking seriously about moving to the west coast in about 2 years to further pursue my career. The milestones I want to accomplish in those two years are:
1) Get enough good material to make a really professional demo
2) Take at least three good VO classes
3) Secure representation
4) Have one or more professional demos made
Not necessarily in that order, of course.
I find this necessary in order to get more work, as I am in Oklahoma and I hope to get more work and escape the use-the-same-old-talent system that I have constantly run into on the home front.
Thanks a ton,
Brad Venable

Hello Lani,
Games is something that I really wanted to get into when I started doing this. I have been doing a number of different character voices for a while now and would love the chance to give games a try. I sort of make up voices as I go, along with imitating others. I'd love some guidance as to how to translate that into some VO work for games. I've had a few auditions but no actual games yet. If you get a chance, take a listen to my character demo on my Voice123 page and let me know what you think. I'd really like to hear your input. Thanks!

Hi Brad,
Great list. Seems like you've got a handle on the business end of the "show business" equation - a quality a lot of actors are lacking.
I've taken a couple classes out here in LA with Susan Blu and Cynthia Songe. They also produced my Animation and Commercial demos for me.
They've got a new book (new edition with CD coming out very soon), called "Word Of Mouth". If you pick it up, be sure to get the 3rd edition (brand spankin' new). This may be a way you can get a jump start on the situation prior to any relocation.
Best to you,
Joe |
