Scott/Chris, Thanks for trying. I think that this might be a pretty complex problem to solve. I was thinking that someone might have had this problem in the past. PLEASE LOSE NO SLEEP OVER THIS. I think I can change my default setting to have v123 audio/posts open with real audio or WMP instead.
Have fun and be good,

Quicktime uses "Directsound" that is not supported by some sound cards that causes this stuttering. My LynxONE doesn't support Directsound and Quicktime and Skype both sound awful. I redirect these programs to my internal cheapy sound chip. Same with iTunes.
For listening to Savvy posts, I find Winamp to be the best solution. Though you have to make sure the output plugin "wave out" is selected.

Jacob -
I reread your OP and I had forgotten that you were having problems with playback, not recording. My advice to disconnect from the network(s) was geared more toward problems with recording.
I echo the advice to get the free Winamp player. Your problems with QuickTime and my problems with distorted playback of wav files on iTunes make me start to wonder about Apple software. I'm starting to question all the ballyhoo about Apple's superiority. Nothing could be simpler than playing back a wav file -- you simply throw the raw data at the DAC -- no decoding or anything. You have to screw up pretty badly to screw up wav file playback. |
