|
|
| I have auditioned literally hundreds of times for voice over jobs and been successful only once. I've been told that I need a better microphone (I'm using a dynamic mic I purchased at RadioShack) and something called a preamp. I'm considering purchasing a condenser mic (Studio Project C-1) from digitalproaudio.com and a Tascam US-122L USB Audio Interface. Is this a good idea? Would these items be compatible with Adobe Audition 2.0? I've been offered what I think is a good deal on the purchase of these items. Can anyone help me with some sound advice? |

Tom-
I went and listened to your demos. You are right, you recording quality is not good.
The setup you mention will work with AA.
One other thing, you really need to work on your delivery.
I am pretty new too, so you should ask some pros, but your reads seem somewhat stilted and not natural.
Good luck! _________________ 865-686-8925

Tom,
You may indeed need a better mic, but let's not jump the gun yet.
Have you taken classes? Read books? Worked in the industry? What's your training and background?
The first thing I noticed was not your mic, but the "P"ops. "T" and "S" sounds in all of your audio. I won't use the word "demo", because at this point you still need one that is professional and professionally produced.
I don't mean to be harsh, but we can help you much more if we know a bit more about you and your abilities...
Tell us a story, there are plenty of listeners out here,

| Thanks for your honesty,Joe! I am surecan do better than the demos I've posted !What's my background? Have I taken any courses or read any books? I might be one of the oldest beginners in this business. I'll celebrate my 62nd birthday this month. As for voice training or experience, I preached in a church for 9 years (speaking 4 times or more per week); I had speaking and singing roles in a number of productions while in highschool (many, many years ago). In addition, I've participated in two webinars sponsored by Voice123 and have purchased and read the book "The Art of Voice Acting" that was mentioned in one of those webinars. |

You go Tom!
If there are classes in your area, that may be the best next step for you. The preaching, and past shows are definitely a good foundation to start from.
Coming from the stage myself, I can tell you that mic work takes a bit of getting used to. But I'm sure you've got it in you.
A word of caution: don't jump for a "demo" if you don't feel ready. There are plenty of places that'll take your $$$...
Be sure to ask us about any classes you find. If someone here knows, the'll chime in if it's a good bet or not.
Happy to have a "beginner" with your experiences
Teach and Learn,
