I was never good in mathematics (maybe that's one of the reasons I became a VO...), but could somebody explain to me the term "Median"?

The price list on voice123 under "tools" shows two columns: "Median" and "Average". So my questions are:

1: What means "Median"? Yes, I've googled and found an explication at wikipedia, but could anybody explain this to a non-math genius?

2: How do you choose your rates? Should a beginner use more or less "Median" rates and an experienced VO "Average" or even more?

Thanks for your math lesson Embarassed

Thomas

Median is the middle number in a group of numbers. For example:

12, 24, 26, 74, 110

The median for this group is 26 and the average is 49.2. One really doesn't have much to do with another. To delve a bit deeper and really hurt your brain Wink if a group of number isn't odd so there is no true middle number like this:

98, 104, 110, 118, 125, 140, 175, 201

you figure the median by adding the two most middle numbers together and dividing them by 2 to get the median, so:

(118+125)/2 = 121.5
