|
|
I would NOT call myself a web designer/coder, but I have created a few pages with FrontPage and Coffee Cup, and I'm having a really hard time finding a flash player to play my VO demos. I know someone recently recommended the Wimpy Player. That;s OK, but I am not wild about the juke-box-type players. What I would really like is to get something like a lot of folks have (similar to what the V123 and voices-com profile sites have) which is a little player that sits right next to the title of each demo. It has a little "play/stop" button. How do I get one of those? Since so many people have them, it would seem they are readily available, but every time I do my own search, the only thing I find are those juke-box things.
Any help appreciated!
Thanks.

Ken,
Not sure where exactly, but one thing I learned is not all players play all types of media.
The Flash player my bro put on my website plays mp3, but we just discovered that in the client download center, it's not playing wav or aiff files. (thank goodness I tested it before notifying the client his files were ready!)
So, we're having to troubleshoot that and/or change the player.
Good Luck! _________________ "Be water my friend."

Can't recall if it was here or elsewhere, but I came across Dan O'Day's flash player AudioRazor, and it is a pretty nifty piece of code. Basically you upload the flash player (a .swf file) to the root directory of your site, then when building the GUI of each instance of the player (1 per file) , you specify an existing URL to link to and play. Saves you from having to post on every single site you want audio on. You can add text tags, choose colors, etc. I think it was $29. It generates the code, you paste in as HTML, and there it is. It helps to leave a split second of silence at the head of your demos since it loads all the files upon page load from wherever they're hosted, and can be a bit jarring to have 2-10 demos start playing at the same time before cutting off. But that's a VERY small issue, it has worked very well for me. _________________ Chris Mezzolesta

| This is where I found the Flash player I use on my site. It is open source so all is legal to use it commercially without paying the developer. It works pretty well and gives you the option of using the different skins which should give you what you were looking for. There are a ton of variables you can use with it too. |

Another source for flash players:

There is a variety of ways to deliver audio, from having button for each file to incorporating a jukebox that can play multiple files if you have a vast portfolio. |
