Howdy,

I continue down the path to enlightenment. I'm still finding "me" and I'm getting closer with each meeting. I'm so pleased with the direction I'm getting from Phyllis. She's cool.

Thanks,

Dave

The above quote, and other comments from Dave, really do not give anyone the real scope of his talent. He speaks as if a newbie, with much humility and modesty.

But I'm gonna out him!

He's a seasoned radio professional, who was the Winner of "Co-Radio Personality Of The Year" award 2004, 2005,2006 and 2007, by the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram Audience Reader's Poll.

He's quite the better half of a hugely popular morning team on a high-energy country station. His ability to connect with his listeners is amazing - his voice exudes love and approachability and I feel the need for a spell checker right about now.

Phyllis, Phyllis, Phyllis.......

Thanks for the nice words about me, I really appreciate it. As far as being "outed", I just want to point out a couple of things here.

Thing 1: I'm in awe of the collection of voices on this website. I am amazed at the elasticity of some, the warmth of others, and still, the power demonstrated.

Thing 2: You all make it seem so effortless, but therein lies the contradiction. You work hard at your craft, and it shows. Me? I am a newbie when it comes to walking in "this" neighborhood. I listen to your demos and I'm amazed to how much meaning you all can give to a simple word like "love" or "coconuts".

I haven't found my voice, when it comes to this neighborhood. But, with Phyllis's constant prodding and direction, it's coming around. Will I ever been able to make it here? I hope so. But at least I'll know that I had the best direction and gave it a great effort.

Thanks!

Dave

It had been waaaaay too long since I last talked with Phyllis but I finally got around to it today. I'm glad to say that since our last session, there has been some marked improvement. The interesting part about it is that it does take some time for changes to come around. Any bad habits may take a while to break while you incorporate better ones. The subtle changes she suggested a while back have become more natural to me now. It's still a work in progress, I know, but we're getting there one step at a time and her suggestions have been wonderful.

If you're already putting in the effort to build your home studio, pay the V123 fee and spend the time auditioning over and over again, take the extra step and give Phyllis a call to improve your vocal range.

An Improved Cheers,
Cameron

I just got off the phone with Phyllis a couple hours ago, and I've honestly had more productive thought on how to improve in the last 2 hours than I've had in the last 5 years. She is so kind and patient, and so incredibly gifted to be able to literally see what she hears. If you're unsure about whether or not to give it a try, I can honestly say that even now with just her free evaluation, I can already begin to improve not only my voice, but my life.

I've been stuck in a rut, and Phyllis saw right through it and helped me see exactly why I'm in the rut, and now we're going to work my way out together.

She even saw my mustache without ever seeing a picture!

Phyllis is absolutely one of God's gifts to VO people. Please call her--you'll appreciate it more than you could ever know.

Just finished my first call with Phyllis. Very revealing. Taking my voice-over to the next level doesn't have a whole lot to do with changing technical things about my voice or delivery and I kinda knew that. It's much deeper than that and Phyllis nailed it by just listening to me talking about myself on an e-mailed file. Pretty amazing gift she has and is willing to share. Now to get in the right frame of mind to tackle my homework...Thanks again Phyllis.

I just got off the phone with my second session with Phyllis. I feel it is money well spent. She has given me assignments and I have returned them to her for critique and exercise. One of my copies was in French which was not only to cross train, but to work my voice from the back of my throat instead of the front of my face like I do.

I think that I can spend all of the money in the world on equipment to add to my computer and home recording, but the best investment I am making is with Phyllis and working with my voice.

Thank you Phyllis....I hope I work hard enough and become successful so I don't let you down!!

There was something interesting that happened during my first chat with Dale. I said, "I see from your picture on your V123 website that you have a mustache, but I don't see it when I hear you speak. It's not affecting your voice at all." I usually can tell if someone has a mustache or not, because it affects the way they use their upper lip. Dale's response was that he'd shaved the mustache after putting his picture on the website.

Earlier today I had my third or fourth? session with 'my new best friend' Phyllis....seriously, it was like talking to a dear old friend. It was very productive...she is widdling away at my bad habits....I don't hear them so I can't change them...she hears them and they are starting to disappear.... I've gotten several jobs since coaching with Phyllis and after today's 2 month 'tune up' I hope to get a few more....I highly recommend letting her listen (she actually sees your voice) to you. It's often just a few corrections that can take your VO career to the next level....THANKS PHYLLIS Very Happy

I really appreciate the testimonials here, they get the word out, helped those who would otherwise be unable to know what's going on and how you've moved forward. So thank you!

V123 has a special program for coaches, and they said as soon as I make a website, they'll sign me up. My site is:

www.phyllisk.com.

Easy to remember. I've started a new thread about getting testimonials (like what is here) to post on my site. I would also put your weblinks on the site if you'd like, under your testimonial.

The new thread is in this section, Buying and Selling.

One of the cool things about the Coach program is that it allows me to give students a 30 day membership for free. Hard to beat that.

The 3 weeks since I've first talked to Phyllis have been nothing short of a total turnaround. I still have a long way to go to get where I'd like to sound, but after just two hours working with Phyllis, I know that I'll be capable of getting there.

Thanks Phyllis! Your gifts are incredible, and I'm so glad that you choose to share them!

student
I talked with Phyllis this morning for another session. I am getting closer to recognizing when my voice is in my throat instead of open and my "natural" voice.
Thanks Phyllis
Again, time well spent.

I have to say that after having my first session with her today...My face will never be the same! As stated earlier, she has a way of "seeing" what she hears and she found things about me that I didnt know were there. I look forward to our next sessions with great anticipation!

On a lighter note, I wonder if she has to turn down the radio in her car so she can see the street signs when looking for an address...like I do. (has anybody else done that?)

Thanks Phyllis!!

I had my first conversation (evaluation) with Phyllis today, and I was amazed at the things we talked about. I had no idea that: “I was doing the things I do!”
I was flattered when she said that she had done prep work by listening to my demos before she called me. A true PRO!
I can’t wait till Friday to roll up my sleeves and get going!
Thanks Phyllis

Yes, Richard, I have to do that, too Wink It's a typical "male behaviour" and a constant discussion point between my wife and me when driving the car... Do you know "Caveman"?

break break:

I'm gonna have my first session with Phyllis today! I'm really excited!
