Every "Newbie" should come to THIS thread before doing anything else. Great (and honest) to-the-point advice from all.

Maxine,

My post wasn't meant to be rude.

My comment about the length of your posts was made in the nicest possible way. And, was made in reference to posting a sticky with "succinct" information to the newbie question. RE: your posts in general, you say to stop reading them... well, you post alot, so it's hard not to come across them. But honestly, I don't read them through most of the time (or yes, sometimes I do skip them altogether as you suggest) b/c they are too long for me.

I only mentioned my idea b/c I simply think that you and others spend a lot of time answering some of the same newbie questions repeatedly, which takes time, and thought that perhaps it would be a good idea to do a sticky for a question like this. I didn't think it was a big deal.

I'm not here to get into pissing matches with people. It was simply a suggestion concerning this particular question, which comes up a lot, and the answer is the same.

As I re-read your reply, it really sounds like you're slamming me. Are you saying that I'm not helpful? I think that there are a number of people here who would say I have been helpful to them. I certainly do try when its something I think I'm qualified to answer.

I will say, however, that I personally, don't have the time to post the same answers to the same newbie question. And, lately, I've not been posting as much b/c of this exact reason... it seems like in the majority of threads on this board, someone gets bent out of shape. I'm not looking for drama in my life unless it comes in the form of work.

Caryn

PS: For the record, I also don't think I ever complained about V123's form letters to us. For the most part, I've stayed away from the complaints about the responses from customer service, the complaints about SmartCast, etc. My only beef is the ratings system, and that's been my complaint since 2005. So, that reference can't be made to me... you have the wrong girl.

Thanks for the great idea Geoff. I was just about to start taking over a closet to make a studio when I read your post in the forum on "voice over Savvy.com" about the Harlan Hogan Porta-Booth. I've assembled the Home Box but find that my mic stand will not shrink down far enough to allow the mic to fit inside. Anyone know what mic stand that is that he's using in his Port-Booth photos? I see that it is a small tripod-type but haven't found it on the net so far. Thanks from yet, another newbie.

Thanks Joe. But I wound up taking the hack saw to my PROLINE MS112BK and everything fits just great now.

They say necessity is the mother of invention. I guess it's also the father of destruction! I'm glad your solution made the cut! Wink
