As I mentioned on a previous post, I am going to be doing some free religious "books on tape" recordings to replace some really, well... BAD recordings done by someone else years ago on a simple portable tape recorder.

I have no experience in this whatsoever, though. Every time I'd listen to the older recordings, I'd cringe, so I figured mine couldn't be worse.

Here's my question(s).

I've never been a terrific reader and I don't want my recordings to sound "read," but natural. Is there coaching places that I go to for this type of thing? Do any colleges offer this sort of thing?

Another thing I am working on is making sure the way I start, continue, and end each sentence is natural/conversational. I HATE listening to people read when each and every sentence ends with the same tone and same emphasis in certain parts of each sentence. It almost sends me into a trance and I always reach for the power button...

Now that I'm trying to do it myself, I see some challenges. When I was an arm-chair quaterback, it's easy seeing/hearing the problems in others, but now that it's my turn... well.... I struggle to find the solution.

Any direction you can point me will help. Perhaps tonight I will post some of the recordings I have played around with during testing (and also post some of the bad ones that I don't like so you can tell why I'd like to update them).

Yes, do that, Landon. It's impossible to give the car a tune-up without getting to the engine.

I only hope you weren't planning to tackle that project anytime soon...like before 2009, for example.
Your list of vocal objectives is admirable, but cannot be completed as a one-stop shopper.

But maybe you're closer than you think; let's have a listen later.

Good Luck!

I would love to hear some audio also. But I will give you this . You know some of the things you need to fix, that has to be one of the best assets going in. Now when Robert and others can hear your demo read they might be able to help. I help with the electrical system if you want ( the recording chain)

Thanks! I look forward to your help!

I will post some samples as soon as I can.
