Hello I am currently looking for advice on how to get into this business, at the moment I can only make amateur recordings and I was wondering on how to improve them and what type of auditions I should send and so forth?

Thank you
Sincerely
Kevin Leon Gibbs

Hi Kevin,

You sound relatively young and very intelligent in your reads, so I think long term there is a bright future towards which you can build with your voice.

There is a sense of oratory detachment in your voice: that's okay, but consider developing the tone of speaking intimately to one person. Immediacy is important in voiceover work. Next, you should work on slowing things down a bit and playing with the rhythm of the read. After that, you absolutely need to work on your breathing: yoga-type excercises will help, but first you must stop your habit of breathing deliberately through your nose at pauses.

The technical qualities of the recordings won't suffice at all for many reasons, but feel free to PM me with questions in this regard. Like all businesses, it costs a bit of money/capital to start things up.

I wish you the best of luck.
