This summer has been the WORST for me - I've suffered from allergies all my life, but never had such a rough season.

Has anyone here tried NeilMed's Sinus Rinse? I saw it while surfing for more info on Neti Pots and sinus rinsing in general, which I've never tried because I've had such bad luck in the past with nasal sprays, but Claritin just doesn't seem to be doing the job anymore and I've eaten enough sudafed this summer to probably be on the drug czar's watch list.

I'm going to give it a try and I'll post my results here, just wondered if anyone else has given it a shot yet.
John

It's a simple, homegrown treatment made better by packaging and pre-measuring. You can achieve what you want with the same kind of bottle, (used for medical flushes, available and inexpensive in drugstores) your own distilled water and non-iodized salt and Arm & Hammer. But everything being pre-measured is probably worth paying for if you're not into doing it all yourself and may have qualms about squirting water up your nose. I prefer the spray/flush like you're asking about to the neti-pot -- it's just too difficult psychologically for me to pour water into one nostril and let it flow out the other. That isn't a natural thing to want to do, after all. Laughing If you've taken too much sudafed, it may have dried you out to the point that you might actually be more prone to infection. The sinus flush thing always helps me in conjunction with meds -- salt and baking soda have healing properties. I wish you success with it!

I'll give you my recommendation on the NetiPot without hesitation John. I've been using it weekly for the past five years or so, (perhaps longer) and have good results with it. As an aside, my wife, who sings with Sweet Adelines, also uses the Neti Pot method of nasal cleansing. It works. Feels weird the first couple of times, but once you learn how to angle your head properly, and get over the sensation of pouring water into your nose, it's a very easy ritual. This is probably isolated, but when I cleans, I can't really do any VO or recording work that day. It takes a while for everything to clear out. So, if I cleanse on a Saturday, I feel a bit stuffed for the day, but clear sailing the for the rest of the week.

Give it a go...I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Good luck...

PM me if you want more input...

I've had a rough summer, with bronchitis and a sinus infection. The doctor has recommended sinus surgery, with a septum deviation fix and an adenoidectomy.

Anyone been through this? He says its quick and pretty much painless. One day outpatient procedure. Shocked

So, I've been using the Sinus Rinse - twice a day, since Monday and I can't believe what a difference it's made.
Not a 100% miracle cure, not yet at least, I expect that in my case it will take some time to overcome the years of abuse that my sinuses have been through, but if anyone else out there is skeptical like I was - try it! The rinse kit that I bought was under $15, is simple and comfortable to use, it doesn't seem weird at all after you use it once or twice and it really works! (I wonder if NeilMed needs a VO talent to do a testimonial?!?)

For me, it just takes about an hour or so to be ready to step up to the mic again post-rinse.

Thanks for the tips everybody - I wish I would have tried this a long time ago!
