Just did my 1st VO for a non US client (Mexico)..all went well, but there's a minor hitch for payment.
He says since he's in Mexico, Paypal isn't an option, and wants to wire me the money..so what works best for you?..Western Union, bank deposit, or Money order? |

I'd have him send it in tequila. Some nice blue agave, something aged.
I'm in the process of trying to determine best approaches to this problem, but more globally, as I have clients all over the place, and had some problems from a job at TOS that they had to step in and assist with.
This site may work. I haven't studied it fully, but it seems like an interesting potentail solution

Ikobo.com allows anyone in the world with a credit card to make a payment to anyone in the world and the receipient gets it in the form a a prepaid credit card. You can remove the funds and deposit them into an account or use the card for purchases, cash withdrawels, etc. |

Western Union is great. There is one at the end of my street and I walk down with my big German Shepherd dog to pick up cash money from places like Lebanon. _________________ Connie Terwilliger - New Yorker Cartoon

Money wire with Western Union will work fine and your Mexican end can do this quite easily at many Elektra stores in Mexico. They are nationwide and usually the money orders are coming in to Mexico and not going out, but if works fine both ways. Be sure that they do not deduct IVA or ISR from your fee. You don't live in Mexico and are not a registered contributer with the Hacienda (the federal tax office in Mexico).
If you are patient regarding payment, Mexican producers appreciate this and you can end up being a favorite of theirs if you show that you appreciate what they go through with their end user clients. |
