Too "Announcerish" Brice. Get into the mic and give, what we call, a "half-voice" or more like a "whisper". More drama....ominous.....

Brice, I answered that same lead and did sort of what Sid's talking about... the close-to-the-mike-half-whisper bit. Give it a listen and see if it helps.

I think, style-wise, mine was more along the lines of Brice's.

Lee, you and I gave gave the "Dick Tufield at the Oscars" read, while Scott did the "Don LaFontaine" read. His is more of the movie trailer type while ours is more awards show announcer.

Here's mine. Didn't the lead as for "Don LaFontaine" ?

I'm cornfused by all this. Do you do what you want in your "best" shot, or do more towards the request of the seeker?

I feel like mine kinda sucked.

Maybe they really wanted Duck Tufield but the only name they knew was Don LaFontaine. Wink

That happens all the time. People want to drop The Don when thats not really what they want, but they only know one or two famous voice over names. Its always, "I need a voice like Don LaFontaine" or "Please sound like Erik Sheppard." Come on people, there are other talents out there besides Sheppard and LaFontaine.

Erik, I TOTALLY get that. What REALLY upsets me is when they send him the checks instead of me!! Even if they accidentally select him, they could at least get the check right!

And I've heard that Don gets pretty rumbly with all the 'Erik Sheppard' requests he's getting these days.

I know I am.

Here's what happends when I TRY to be La Fontaine for shits and giggles at home. I end up with a slight touch of Jack Nicholson.

But wait! I'm nothing like Nicholson - I'm a pretty nice guy - really!

This is what happends when you are anything but YOURSELF.

Man, Randy... post it as an .mp3 next time to speed up downloads. You're right... there's a bit of Jack in there.
