Hi everyone.
I would like whosoever feels like being brutally honest to listen to my demo, specifically my primary "Commercial" one and give me your feedback.

I do not consider myself a newbie, as I have produced over 2 million voice prompts for IVR over the past 13 years or so. I have just recently put my voice out there, however, and it has been a long time since oral interpretation classes!
All postive feedback is welcome.

You sound pretty good, Chuck. Definite glimmers of talent in there. It sounds like you're trying really hard (at points) to hit your enunciation just right and it winds up sounding a tad artificial.
You also sometimes sound a bit tense -- BREATHE, MAN! BREATHE!!
I think you sound good but maybe need some more polish and you'll be there.
Good luck! |

Hi Chuck,
Positively--I like the fact that you don't try to sound "announcery." You have a "real person" effect that is very important with today's trends away from typical deep announcery tones and deliveries. As an old radio guy, this comfortable real person feel does not come as natural with me as it seems to come with you.
Constructively--I agree with Chip's comment on the over-enunciation. Perhaps that comes from doing a lot of phone prompt work? Like Chip says, it just takes a little relaxation and "acting comfortable" mentality when working the script.
Okay, if I can dish it out, I've got to be able to take it! Please feel free to critique my own stuff, perhaps most importantly the general composite demo on my site, http://toddbelcher.voice123.com
Thanks and good luck,
Todd |
