I got lucky recently with this take on an 'English Professor' read for a marriage guidance job. (Put the knife down, darling... )
I also had some interest from a radio station in New Zealand after they heard one of my cricket songs. It probably won't make any sense to most of you, but I'll post it anyway, just for a chuckle.

Thanks Connie & Maggie. Glad you were amused as well as bemused!
Maggie - I think you may have mistaken my pompous Yorkshireman (Geoffrey Boycott) for a gentleman from North of the Border!

You're our treasure, Rajiv.
Those were astonishingly accomplished. Much genuflecting and general tugging at the forelocks....
Voice On!

Rajiv
You continue to amaze me. What a lovely cricket song--I was expecting the insect, but that's a Yank for you.
Love to hear more. Thanks for sharing!!

Rajiv.... so are we to assume since you're posting these on this forum that you landed these? You were mildly opaque with the way you worded it. If so - and I have no doubt you DID land them - no surprise and WAY TO GO! They obviously know great stuff when they hear it!

Robert, Lori, Scott - thank you also for your kind words. (Just as I was starting to respond to the egomania treatment, as well. )
Maggie - you're quite right about the Scots rolling their 'rrrr's, but it's not a trait that's entirely exclusive to those North of the border. Having said that, in this case, the Yorkshire 'r' comes out as more of a rapid 'd', so 'cricket', for example, becomes 'k-d-ickeet'. Trust me - that's how Geoffrey Boycott speaks!
Actually, one of the things I love about Britain is this vast range of accents found across such a relatively small island nation. I'd love to have seen the look on my mother's face when, having been raised on plumb-in-the-mouth, Noel Coward-style English in her Indian youth, she arrived in the North East (Southshields) - where they speak one of the broadest regional dialects you could imagine! It would be great to master all the accents one day, but it might take a few lifetimes, methinks...
Scott - yes, I did indeed 'land' jobs with both of these auditions - though in rather contrasting ways...
The 'English Professor' part was a recent V123 posting, but the cricket song is a different story. I wrote the original version of the song over ten years ago and sent it - together with a tape of sports impersonations - to a well-known English impressionist, Alistair McGowan, who liked it enough to get me in as a regular on his national BBC radio sketch show for a couple of years. Then, a couple of weeks ago, a guy from a radio station in New Zealand heard the song (and various other impressions) on one of my web-links and subsequently expressed an interest in working with me.
(Hope you're still awake after all that!)
Anyway, thanks again, for the kudos. Your enjoyment is my delight.

Rajiv...I chuckled extensively!!! Just my style. That was brilliant, sir - a VERY convincing Richie Benaud and a great Boycott. I really enjoyed it and am a pretty big cricket fan (we won't talk about the last Ashes mate ). Very impressive.
The English Professor was awesome - a very believable character and some lovely nuance there.

Cheers Matt and September - glad you enjoyed it!
...And you're dead right, Matt, we won't mention the Ashes...
All the best,
Rajiv
