For those of you who have asked: Here's a public announcement:
Bettye Zoller, award winning voiceover talent CLIOS, ADDYS, GOLDEN RADIOS, ADDYS, and AUDIO Awards, Simon and Schuster author and audio producer, teaches voiceover workshops in Dallas on Sept 15 and 16 (Business of voiceovers and Voice Acting Techniques) and on October 6 Character and Cartoon Voices! She began at MGM studios in Hollywood as a child actor and since, has become a legend in her field as a voice actor, jingle singer, and voice coach. Students travel from all over the U.S. to study with her. If you're out of town, she'll advise on best hotels, her staff even picks you up at airport. She gives her all to help. These always sell out so contact her and enroll early. SMALL GROUPS. Many say that the handouts alone are worth price of workshops! And the networking is super too.
In November, she's once again in HOUSTON TEXAS sponsored by Women in Film. Ask for dates and details to be decided soon. Guest teachers too!

You know, it always disrupts my EQ when a 10-poster comes along to announce for the ninth time that....
(oh, leave it alone, Robert....been there; said that.....)
Good luck, Bettye. I do mean it.

Mike, if you get a chance to study under Bettye, do so. She's worked with me in TX and I have learned much about the craft of VO from her. She's a great teacher, a great motivator, and just a great person in general.
From this former Michiganian to a current Michiganian, (though I still prefer the old school Michigander title) Good luck with your voice over career.

|

Hey everybody...a PS to my last post about Houston...I'm doing another fundraiser there for Women in Film TV, my workshop sponsor, but it now will NOT be in November. It will be in January of 2oo8 and for you in the North, that's a great city to be in in cold January cause it's always nice and warm there...so just wanted to set this straight. Thanks. My co-teachers there will be broadcaster and audio expert Scott Feighner and the famed drama coach and director Barbara Lasater of Houston's Black Box Theatre plus other guests!! It will be three days and include Character and Cartoon Voices, The Business of voiceovers, and Voice Acting for Today's Marketplace. Limited space so contact me early and I'll forward details to you privately.

Just a word to say here that it is so vital for all actors (voiceover actors included!) to study with or take workshops with a variety of teachers! It is not a proprietary thing...education...students need various inputs, viewpoints, expertise. Thus, it is important for everyone, new or not, to realize that all of us...the experienced coaches...have valuable input to impart to you. A dear friend, a consumate broadcaster who passed away several years ago, once told me, "When you study with a teacher or attend a workshop, if you get one 'pearl,' one' vital point' to take away, the money you paid has been worth it." Since then, I've found that often, I do get "one thing" from a session or workshop to take away. That "one thin" is often priceless. VALUE YOUR TEACHERS everyone. We love teaching you. And you are our REWARD and YOUR SUCCESS is OUR SUCCESS. The letters and emails and friends I have over the years because I've taught them their skills has been priceless. It is my LEGACY.
God bless you all.

For those who always wonder "Gee, I wonder if this one or that one is any good and worth the money and time....." I can tell you that Bettye will not disappoint.
I recently had the pleasure of spending an evening at a Bettye Zoller workshop while she was in Denver. I got a chance to see this business through the eyes of someone who is often on the other side of the buyer/seller or talent/producer equations - and it is always good to see things from a point of view that is not our own. It makes ya think "Oh geeze, is that what it looked like when I....?"
We covered a lot of ground and a ton of good, solid nuggets of worthwhile information were placed before us for our consideration.
Oh - and Bettye - if you are reading this, can we get some chocolate covered strawberries next time?

|

Thank you Don for the kind words here. My Denver voiceover evening was quite wonderful. All of the attendees were serious voice talents, working talents, making the most of their voiceover savvy. All except two were not beginners so it was an "advanced" workshop for the most part with pithy and difficult questions and good answers. Denver has a lot of talented people and I'm fortunate to have delivered a workshop there with such interest. Thank you everyone for your Denver support and I sincerely hope you'll ask me back!! The workshop was only one evening...so brief. I hope you can attend a weekend workshop with me sometime in another city or plan one in Denver...I love your city. All the best. And keep in touch everyone.
Cyberhugs
Bettye Z
