I attended today's webinar with Debbie Munroe and the last one given by James Alburger. Both were helpful although I think I got more out of Munroe's session today. Maybe I was just more receptive. I loved her attitude and optimism. Her best advice was to develop one voice at a time (starting with your natural voice). I had been concerned that I don't yet have a character demo and haven't focused on ways to channel the characters quickly, but now I'm satisifed that will come in its own time.

I think it's great that V123 has hosted these seminars for free. What a bargain! If you haven't attended one of these webinars yet, you may want to sit in on the next one. It's a terrific opportunity to hear a professional voice talent talk about the craft.

Nikki,

I can tell you from experience there is VERY little call for character voices. Just look at the V123 leads you get. How many of them ask for character voices? Almost none. I've been producing in radio for about 30 years and I'd say, quite honestly, that out of maybe 5000 spots I may have produced over the years I've had the need to use a character voice less than 50 times. You have a great voice and demo, just go with what is YOU.

All the best!

I too really enjoyed today's webinar. Debbie was very positive and helped boost me up to just keep trying. I have only been at it a short time, but I am optimistic that things will wok out in the long run. I love doing this so I know I can stick to it.

I enjoyed the seminar as well - she does have a great attitude. I can see how that helps through the lean times.

I'd have to agree with Scott and the others. Natural voice will be your bread and butter. The character parts are few and far between, but they are definitely the most fun, in my opinion! Laughing

Do what you love, love what you do...

Scotts right Nikki!

You'd have better luck finding the life of a Character in Literature, not only will It reveal the insights of individual and social character but also the character of life itself.

It would not hurt to experiment though.

I think I hear somebody calling me lieb hab

Normally once a webminar is organized an e mail communication to the Voice123 members is sent.

These are done quite often and you should see these notifications soon, if you are interested on viewing the videos of the prior ones or get more information click here

I didn't realize this post got responses. Where have I been this month? V123 apparently posted Munroe's webinar on YouTube. That's great for you guys who couldn't attend or for people who just want to revisit what she said. Here's the link:

Scott, Joe and Louis - you know, I have to agree with you. Today I saw my first lead here asking for a character voice. I have fun doing character voices at home and for warmups but I won't worry about pitching that. I do enjoy using my own voice best. Thanks.
