Greetings everyone. After lurking for a couple of days and gathering the requisite equiment to begin my quest, I am joining you in the Closet!

I had a wonderful day...ok it was two days trying to get setup with some reasonable sound equipment. I managed to pick up a AKG perception 100 from my son and a lightsnake xlr to usb cable and a microphantom power supply. Hoping this is good for starters.

I am including a copy of the tree toad training demo I made for fun.

Cheers,
JR

Nice rolling of that "r" here and there!
Sounds a bit echo-y to me and I hear some mouth noise at the very start and a bit in the middle....and a bit breathy....anyone else?
I think the volume is ok...and you have a distinctive voice all right! Wink

Thanks Debbie, that was my first recording in my trailer trash studio.

I think the echo problem is related to the speakers in the background I don't think I had the headphones on...it is a little bit of a challenge to hear yourself as you record.

I am hoping the breathy thing will sort itself out with practice and learning. I am trying to study up on this as I go forward and I have miles to go before I sleep!

I did a mic test and posted it in the geek place forum.

Thanks again for the feedback.

JR

I'm setting up my page now and need some advice. Should I put up a small demo in the alloted space or should I wait for a professional demo? I don't think I'll have a professional demo for awhile yet, too much to learn.

I understand that I cannot as a regular member respond to auditions. If I were to pony up for the premium should I be sending out demos without being "trained" or should I wait?

If I were to send out demos at this point would that be detrimental to future seekers supposing I would get poor ratings?

If I make some demos as per the auditions I can see in my mailbox where would be the most appropriate forum to post?

Finally (for the moment) where would I post to get feedback about what type of voice I have (some adjectives for my profile)?

Cheers, Rolling Eyes

Other people have asked the same question, should I post a demo on my website, or wait until I have it professionally produced?
Consensus is to wait, practice, learn and read and practice even more. THen have a demo made professionally. It will sound great!
Buy and sell thread has some offers there for production of demos.
Best thread for trying out your audition or demo tapes, is voice over idol.
Demo of the day is for demos posted on V123 that are up for grabs to land the gig. But, actually, I guess a demo you see posted in your V123 inbox could go there too!
Good luck!

Thanks again Debbie, I figured as much but wanted to make sure. I'm sure this gets redundant for you you should keep a copy of this as an autoreply. Wink
