|
|
Hopefully this will help people get an idea on the characteristics of sounds that microphones an preamps can give your voice. Remember with so many variables to each individual home studio these samples are just to provide a generalized idea of what a microphone may sound like in your studio...
the chain of this voice sample goes like this
My Mouth
Telefunken AK 47
Avalon M5 Preamp
Firewire Solo
Adobe Audition 2.0
-------------------------------
will also be ading for A/D conversion either the Apogee Rosetta 200 or the Mytek Stereo192 ADC... still deciding...

Here is my mic test, relatively cheap setup.
Cheers,

JR-- looks like there is yet another voice actor in your house! Sounds great btw, goes to show one need not break the bank to achieve great sound.
Don—sounds sweet but then again with a class A set up and that wonderful sonorous voice of yours how can you not sound great.

Why Ed, now you've gone a done it, I'm suffering from Mic Envy!
I like the mellow old mic but the AKG's are so much more crisp, they take 10 years off your voice...not that you sound old...nevermind!
Are you a sound tech or a collector?
Don, thanks for the comments , I'm glad I gave you a laugh. I suspect my son is the real talent and I think he's willing to do some work if we can find it!

Thanks JR
Don't ever have mic envy, it's just a tool. The most importain tools are your vocal cords and how you train to use them for the sound you want.
I have over the year gathered some good stuff and some crappy stuff.
I did production sound for film and video, as well as engineeering for a while.
I tried to just do a normal voice delivery with enought dry space to hear the mic. I got real lucky on the RCA44. Bought it from a guy who did not know the value and didn't realy care.
