Hi. I want to introduce myself. My name is Gregory Whitfield, 27 years old. I love to talk on the mic but away from the mic I don't like to talk much (make any sense?). Well, I would love to know how to get a few local gigs and who knows--it may turn into something big. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thank you. Very Happy

Hi Gregory -

I'm going to pick on your demo a little bit, but only because I want to help.

1) In this business, if you say can do celebrity impersonations, they've got to be SPOT ON. Close will not get you work.

2) Your demo was very clever, but I think you would help yourself more if you had something that shows some variety. Especially if you have just one demo. Or do a character reel, commercial, etc. Any actual work you can drop in (that's good) should be dropped in.

3) This is a tough one for every one starting out, but give serious consideration to having your demo professionally produced, and you might want to have an experienced voiceover direct you in your performance. It will definitely help.

Again, not trying to put you down at all -- just some (hopefully) constructive criticism.

Good luck!

Chip, I would say you did a nice job on critiquing a fellow talent. I believe it is the hardest part of the business is recognizing if the work you are doing is good, bad or indifferent.

I invite your comments on my demo http://chrisholcombe.voice123.com

Boy, did I just open a can of worms. Laughing

Also, the saying goes we are own worst critic.

Like Gregory, I am trying to break into this exciting field of voice overs.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Chris.
