Indeed, Maggie.

Voicing MP3s are easy enough to protect.

Script, however..... impossible.

It's up to Freddie to back 'em off, particularly since some of the Talent will be rising to the bait; get drug in and whacked with a large, blunt object.

I am thinking about posting this lead:

Quote:
Wanted: Someone to write absolutely brilliant copy, then voice it and produce it and send it to me. I require that it be on a cd, that I have all rights for all eternity. Please be sure to enclose your check for $750.00, made payable to me.

This may lead to further jobs in the future for the lucky winner!

Anyone willing to bet on how many suckers swallow the bait?

Um, OK.
Don, I finished the recording but I'm not sure where to mail the check to. Please post your address. Thanks.

Anyone want to partner up with me on a new venture? Script123...we could clean up!

See we charge script writers, oh say $195 a year and they would get leads that we'd post from script seekers and then wriite a script and submit it along with a price.

To protect themselves from theft they could use a watermarked background or just use ******** for the company name.

I can see it now. "LEAD 1234567890X Need custom script for IVR and voice mail system. Please incorporate "dial one for sales, dial two for customer service, dial three for all other inquires" and "leave a message and we'll return your call". Male or Female script writer okay as we have not decided yet. Could lead to future work. budget $15-20"

I'll be holding out to write an audio book of 47,000 words for $100.

This will get us started and then we can start working on 2.0 and scriptcaster!!!!

Hello Everyone!!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about this project with us.

We would like to give you some additional information that we got from the communications with the voice seeker prior to sending you the project.

This voice seeker is a new user of Voice123, he has lots of projects to post with us, and in this case he just wanted to get a sample of the script writing skills that the voice producers registered with us have before contacting their favorites to do the actual project which has a completely different subject .

Hope this gives you a better idea of the project and voice seeker, we will try to clearer by adding this kind of information to the postings.

Those of us who are also writers would be more than willing to send along some Generic, copyrighted material.

Hell, I have 150 mp3's handy that I wrote, voiced and produced.

But to ask for a "sample" script dealing with the client's business or offer is just a taaaad out of line.... for all the obvious reasons.

Besides (and I already know how arrogant this seems), the majority of clients wouldn't know a good piece of script-writing that didn't have their name and location in it at least three times.

I suppose I'm supposed to feel better, Carmen, that there was some small vetting of this Seeker's posting.

So let's recap...a new client posts a low-budget, fictitious lead asking for full production, writing and voicing of a hair salon product so that he can select the best for some unidentified later project, right?

Now, never mind that most of the more astute Talents may have deleted this fictitious, frivolous, miserly posting without a second look (thereby depriving the Seeker of V123's best talent), the submitting talent is supposed to write, produce and voice something that is not really being sought?
And not really being sought, might I add, by a Confidential seeker who may or may not exist.

And this is rationalized as OK by our minders?

Somehow, I must admit that I don't really feel better.

What? On!
