Okay...so here we are at a New Year and I am a bit frustrated when I hear many of you saying that you've gotten all these great jobs, etc...I am HAPPY for you (seriously - because I do believe that there is plenty of work to go around) but wondering what the heck is wrong with me. I love doing voiceovers (and performing in general)...could probably use more training...always room for improvement...but what's the deal?? I suspect being quicker at times in answering a lead is opportunity #1...anyone gone through this, or going through this now??
I think voice 123 is great, so that is not the issue. In reading this back, it sounds rather whiney, but I am gonna send it anyway. I could use a little cheering on...any takers??
Have a GREAT day!

Dave Beaman:
.....And then, to top it all off, you don't even get answers from the VO forum....
But thanks for the New Year's wishes, Sir, and I hope your 2007 is full of little green Private Lead icons.
Yes, you do read about everybody getting all these good jobs...but remember that we're - what? - 1000-plus strong, so the ratio of great news posted here is really pretty low. Take a look at the hit percentages elsewhere in these pages: 1 in 40, 1 in 80, 1 in 267, even 1 in 340.
Your turn will come. Keep plugging. I read somewhere that Jason Alexander did 190 unsuccessful auditions before landing the George gig on Seinfeld.
Now he's set for life.
Personally, I went 5 months and some 270 auditions before getting a Voice 123 job, and now I'm set for life.
As long as I don't live past Wednesday.
Morning.
If'n you love doing this, hang in. Plug away.
Obviously, you care. Your turn WILL come.
Cheers and Skoal,
Robert Jadah |
